17’s Setters Who Steered the Floor at Commander’s Cup

At the open level, setters aren't just distributing — they're learning how to control pace, calm chaos, and give their hitters confidence. Commander's Cup showed a group of 17's who are building that command. None of this level is about polish yet — it's about leadership growth and decision-making under pressure — and these athletes embraced that role.    Kathryn brings a composed presence to the back row. She tracks first contact well and adjusts her footwork efficiently on broken plays. When she commits to pushing tempo, her offense flows better and her hitters stay engaged. Continued work on deception will elevate her impact. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga     Kiran sets with clean mechanics and disciplined footwork. She keeps her shoulders quiet and delivers a consistent ball to both antennas. Her leadership shows in transition moments — she doesn't panic when rallies extend. As she becomes more assertive with middle tempo, her offense opens up. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga     Syler plays with a confident release and isn't afraid to push tempo to the pins. She keeps her hands high and stays engaged in transition. Her willingness to run the offense aggressively gives her team scoring opportunities. She does a nice job squaring to target and giving her pins hittable tempo, even when the pass drifts. Her decision-making improves when she stays aggressive with middle usage. She distributes evenly and doesn't lock into one option. Her composure in longer rallies helps stabilize the offense.
