In high-level brackets, tempo is not just about speed. It is about decision-making, timing, emotional control, and the ability to steady a team when matches swing. College coaches watching this weekend were not simply tracking production. They were watching who sustained offensive rhythm, who generated defensive resets, and who maintained clarity when pressure rose.   These juniors did more than compete. They influenced flow. They adjusted in real time. They strengthened momentum through communication, blocking presence, offensive distribution, and leadership energy. In environments where margins shrink quickly, the athletes who can control tempo often become the athletes who control outcomes.   That is what stood out. That ability to absorb instruction and translate it quickly carried into tournament play.   Throughout the weekend, Johnson managed offensive distribution with poise. She selected calculated dump opportunities, placed hitters in high-success scoring windows, and generated block slowdowns that allowed her team to reset into system and sustain tempo. Her communication remained consistent, reinforcing structure on both sides of the ball.   Her next layer of growth centers on increasing speed to contact in every phase, releasing faster to the ball, closing more efficiently to the block, and reacting quicker in serve receive. That acceleration will expand her front-row scoring presence and elevate overall tempo control. By incorporating more second-contact scoring threats and deep-corner dumps, she aims to create more one-on-one scenarios for hitters and stretch defensive reads. Off the court, Kim recently traveled to Pennsylvania for the first time and experienced snow, a new environment for a California athlete. Off the court, Dedekian's commitment to aviation and pursuit of a pilot's license reflects long-term goal setting and technical curiosity, traits that parallel her structured approach to the game.
