Legacy Fights Back, Takes Down LOVB 17 Angel
In this article:
Never count out Legacy - ever. The kids from the Detroit area maintain a high standard across their entire club. They've been here, they've won titles, and they won't back down no matter who is across the net.
Legacy 17 Adidas lost their first two matches of the afternoon to Arizona Storm 17 Thunder and a thrilling three setter to Wave 17 Julianna out of Southern California. Next up would be another So Cal team in LOVB 17 Angel.
Legacy has a roster full of D1 commits, but on paper LOVB 17 Angel came into the match with the top overall prospect in the Class of 2027 in Nebraska commit Kendall Omoryuri, USC commit in outside McKenna McIntosh, future Missouri setter Lucky Fasavalu, and one of the top uncommitted 17s in the field in Hannah McGinest. They had not dropped a set in their first two matches.

From the start of the first set, Legacy came out with aggression. Big swings by

, a major block by 10, and key defensive pick ups by libero 7. Halfway through set one it was a stuff block by 10 that really got the bench going. When LOVB came back with a string of points it was

with the push on the second contact to the deep corner that essentially sealed set one where they would go on to win 25-20.
LOVB 17 Angel needed to respond being the first team to score ten points. Omoruyuri had a big stuff block, a powerful blast to the corner, and outside Hanna McGinest found her groove. However, Legacy just was right there. The bench was hyped and the closer they got, the more the could taste a potential victory. LOVB did force two late timeouts by Legacy, but it just wasn't enough as 17 Adidas won the match with a sweep 25-20, 25-23.
Up next will be a challenge match for both of these teams. They will open their wave with a pool champion where the winners advance to the “Elite” Division.
