From California, to Texas and the Midwest, all of the biggest teams in the country are coming to Orlando, hunting for a bid to Indianapolis in July.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Most of these players are committed to some of the best programs in the country! If you are a young athlete at this tournament, looking for the prototypes of your position, who's game to study and learn from. These are the ones. Here are the 10 athletes to watch in 17 Open at the Sunshine Classic.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Nyla Livings - TAV 17 Black</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is a middle blocker that is everything you could want in the position. Nyla Livings is a steadfast blocker, has an incredible transition game and can run just about any route along the net. What pushes Livings a step further ahead, though, is her versatility. Rotating into the back court, not only does Livings deliver a bombing serve but she can hit a nasty back row attack that TAV goes to often when able.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gentry Barker - Austin Performance 17 Adidas</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>If you're an undersized attacker looking for a player to model your game after, it is Gentry Barker from Austin Performance. At 5'9, Barker has to use a lot of different tools to effectively score the way she does. She has a heavy arm coinciding with a big vertical. From here, she sees the opposing defense from the net to the back court incredibly well, allowing for her to pick off her shots well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Peyton Kubik - Dynasty 17 Black</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is another outside who's game is one that should be marveled at. Peyton Kubik is an effective scorer from just about all angles of the court. She has a quick arm that allows her to surpass some tough defenders and blockers. Kubik also brings on an elite level of ball control that allows her team to continually run in system.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Elizabeth Bower - ID CRUSH 17 BOWER</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>You know when you see a Bower step onto the court, you're going to get something of a masterclass in skill. Elizabeth Bower comes from a long line of top notch volleyball lineage and is looking to be a highlight in that respective group. A libero that's headed to Louisville, Bower is considered one of the best in her class. Her court awareness paired with her vision allows her to defend vast court space.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Josalyn Samuels - Kairos 17 Alpha</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>What makes this player so intriguing to watch is not just how good she is running the show for Kairos' 17s squad. But its the fact that Josalyn Samuels is only a sophomore. In such a crucial position as that of the setter, it can be quite the daunting task to be playing at such a high level. Samuels not only fits right in, but has elevated herself seemingly past the competition. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='827835' first='Sophia' last='Dostic'] - OTVA 17 T Aaron</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another setter to note from this group is that of [player_tooltip player_id='827835' first='Sophia' last='Dostic'] from OTVA Tampa. This is a setter that has long been on my list of players to note in this position. From intangibles such as her poise, timeliness and feel for the game, Dostic has it all and it's truly what makes her and her teams so effective.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Keilani Ledaja-Brewer - Triangle 17 Black</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Maybe one of the most explosive athletes in the gym, Keilani Ledaja-Brewer may have some pieces to her game that just aren't replicable. Not everyone is gifted with such vertical jumps. But what can be taken away from Brewer's game are things such as her transition, her approach and the way she attacks the ball.
