Momentum matters this time of year—and Syracuse Volleyball Club 16-1s are arriving at the Northeast Qualifier (NEQ) with plenty of it. Coming off a strong 3rd place finish out of 72 teams at the Boston National Qualifier, this group has already proven it can navigate a deep, competitive field. Now, they return with confidence, experience, and a clear objective: secure another USAV bid and continue building on a season that's trending at the right time.

What stands out immediately with Syracuse is how complete they are. This isn't a team built around one player or one phase—they win through structure, discipline, and the ability to stay in system. Their first contact sets the tone, their setters control tempo, and their attackers produce across multiple rotations. It's a connected style of play that translates in high-pressure environments like NEQ.

The offensive strength starts on the pins, where Syracuse brings both depth and versatility. Lily Deforge leads with a composed and efficient approach, staying productive whether the ball is in-system or pushed high and outside. She doesn't force swings, instead working the block and finding ways to terminate in rhythm. Alongside her, Evalee Palmiter provides stability in serve-receive and transitions cleanly into offense, giving the team a reliable option in longer rallies. Zoie Vanbeveren adds a more aggressive scoring presence, attacking with pace and putting pressure on defenses to adjust. Sophia Otokiti brings flexibility to the pin group, capable of impacting the match in multiple rotations with her physicality and ability to terminate in transition. Emily Diep rounds out the group with discipline and consistency, contributing heavily to first contact while still being a dependable offensive option.

In the middle, Syracuse continues to establish control at the net. Gabrielle House runs quick-tempo offense effectively, staying available in transition and finishing cleanly when in rhythm. Her timing allows the offense to stay fast and balanced. Alachiir Kuany brings length and lateral range, covering ground defensively and closing blocks with purpose to disrupt opposing hitters. Mia Rizzo adds a physical presence, playing strong above the net and continuing to develop as both a scorer and a blocker. Together, this middle group provides the foundation for both offensive tempo and defensive structure.

The system is directed by setters Danica Oppenheimer and Gia Randall, who keep the offense flowing with consistency and control. Oppenheimer does a strong job reading the floor and distributing the ball in a way that keeps all options involved, especially in transition situations. Randall complements that with composure and tempo management, ensuring the offense stays steady even under pressure. Their ability to stay balanced prevents defenses from keying in on any one attacker.

Behind it all, Alyssa Presley anchors the back row with a calm, controlled presence. Her ability to read the game and deliver clean first contact allows Syracuse to operate at full tempo. Whether in serve-receive or defensive coverage, she brings stability that connects every phase of the team's system.

As NEQ approaches, Syracuse 16-1s look like a team built for another deep run. Their success isn't accidental—it's rooted in discipline, versatility, and a clear understanding of how they want to play. With multiple scoring options, a controlled tempo, and a defense that keeps them in system, they have all the pieces needed to compete at a high level once again.

They've already shown they can rise in a 72-team field. Now, the focus shifts to what's next.
