Nike Cross Court Classic: 15 Open Setters Who Stole the Show

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Houston area just had one of its busiest weekends in the club season, with the traditional Nike Cross Court Classic coming to town.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The gigantic tournament brought over 700 club teams from Texas and beyond, split into 30 divisions, to the George R Brown Convention Center, in downtown, for two days of intense and fast-paced action between Saturday and Sunday.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li><strong><a href="https://prepdig.com/2026/03/nike-cross-court-classic-15-open-division-photos/">Nike Cross Court Classic - 15 Open Division Photos</a></strong></li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Dig Texas was on-site on Sunday morning, when we got to check out the top eight teams in the 15 Open Division, which were playing elimination rounds after ranking first or second in their pools on Saturday. There was some serious talent on the court, and now we'll list the prospects who caught our eye with their strong play. She stood out with her strong all-around game, which highlighted her superior technique and impressive volleyball IQ. Hinojosa was very good with her distribution, showing the confidence and the intelligence to consistently set against the flow of play, and the quality to remain accurate and put her hitters in good spots. A tall setter, she stood out for her ability to smoothly move on the court and quickly get to the ball before making the second contact. Her touch on the ball was always very clean, and Wallace showed nice body control to stay off the net when trying to reach for tight passes. She demonstrated great consistency and maturity in her distribution, keeping all her hitters involved and making her team have a dynamic offense. Utsey was very reliable with her locations, managing to feed her pin hitters with hittable sets even after tracking down passes well off the net. Working with passes off the net more often than not, she showed how great her setting hands are, consistently finding ways to get the ball to her pin hitters in good conditions. When in system, Xu demonstrated nice creativity and confidence to speed things up and make her team's offense unpredictable.
