Today was day one of the Spring Smackdown in Tulsa. We got to see a ton of talent spread out over two locations. We had multiple scouts roaming around taking a ton of notes. Let's take a look at some stars from just day one.

[player_tooltip player_id='815241' first='Kennadee' last='Mason'] Right Side Hitter for Rise 18-1. A senior out of Tecumseh high school, she was a cornerstone of their program. She has joined the Rise 18-1 team that is talented top to bottom. She did a great job on the right side of slowing down opponent's big hitters on the outside. Her ability to do that and score points from the right side helped rise go 3-0 today. They will likely find themselves in the championship match tomorrow.

[player_tooltip player_id='757028' first='Makiyah' last='Skinner'] Setter for Apex 17-1. I got to watch Makiyah this past school season and she was a player that really helped their offense run smoothly. It's not any different for this Apex team. Her ability to deliver consistent balls to her hitters and track down out of system passes are crucial. They will look to win the silver bracket tomorrow, but they will need her to play well.

Aubrey Leiker Libero for Shockwave 17 Gold. Aubrey may not be from Oklahoma, but she did a great job in the back row. She was a pivotal part of Shockwave getting the upset and advancing to the gold bracket tomorrow. I loved her leadership and technique while passing. These things really go a long ways for passers wanting to play at the next level. They will take on another Heart of America team in the first round that will not be easy.

[player_tooltip player_id='920557' first='Brooklyn' last='Wallace Outside for [program_tooltip program_id='432025' first='OK' last='Charge'] 17 Select Tulsa. I got to watch Brooklyn hit on the outside today and much like her play, her team was dominant. No team scored more than 13 points in any set against this crew. No team today could find an answer to slow down Brooklyn's offense. She did a great job of transitioning and giving herself every opportunity to score.

[player_tooltip player_id='752537' first='Madison' last='Campbell'] Outside for Peak 16 Elite. Madison is an absolute hammer for one of the best teams in the state. Not to one up charge, but peak was able to only allow a team to score 12 points in any set today. Yes she can hit ball with tremendous power, but play making ability goes far beyond just that she has some next level IQ and an undisciplined block is something she uses to score often. She is definitely someone local colleges should be chasing after.

Good luck to all the teams and players that will be competing tomorrow. This is not an easy tournament and that is because the Oklahoma region continues to raise the bar and develop a deep talent pool.

We will be out and about again tomorrow. Please make sure and stop us to say hi. Also, make sure an update your profile. We are seeing a lot of club team inaccuracy displayed.
