In a class that continues to evolve, size at the net remains one of the most valuable assets—and these 6'+ middles are already showing signs of long-term impact. This isn't just about height—it's about how they move, how they close, and how they create presence on both sides of the ball.</h3>   I've been tracking this group closely through showcases, national qualifiers, and tournament play, and what continues to stand out is the growth happening in real time. From weekend to weekend, these athletes are gaining confidence, refining their timing, and becoming more intentional in how they impact the match. You're seeing middles who are learning to establish early in rallies, connect on quicks, and stay available in transition as consistent offensive options.   Offensively, there's clear development in the routes being run. These middles are not limited to just first tempo—they're expanding into slides, second tempo looks, and adjusting based on setter location and system flow. That ability to adapt and still produce is what begins to separate players at this stage. When the pass is there, they're becoming reliable; when it's not, they're finding ways to still be involved.   At the net, the evaluation goes deeper. It's about how they read the setter, how quickly they close seams, and whether they're pressing across the tape or simply occupying space. The best in this group are already showing discipline in their blocking—taking away angles, sealing hands, and forcing attackers to adjust. There's a difference between being tall and being effective, and these middles are beginning to understand how to turn length into production.   What makes this group especially intriguing heading into June 15 is the combination of physical tools and projection. These are athletes who are still developing, but the ceiling is clear. With continued strength, increased tempo, and more reps in system, they can grow into impact players at the next level.    Rilynn Wingenback has been one of the most physically imposing middles I've tracked all season, but what separates her is how she uses that size with intention. At 6'4”, she isn't just long—she's effective. Her ability to get off the floor quickly and establish early in first tempo has made her a consistent scoring threat on 1s and quick pushes. When the connection is there, she's finishing at a point that most blocks simply can't match.   At the net, she's becoming a problem. Rilynn is learning how to press across the tape with authority, taking away angles and forcing attackers into uncomfortable swings. Her growth from early-season events to now has been noticeable—more discipline, better timing, and a stronger presence every time out. What elevates Gillian is her ability to score with intention. She sees the block, understands defensive positioning, and finishes accordingly—whether that's finding seams or placing the ball where it needs to be. She doesn't waste swings. At the net, Rylie brings a competitive edge that shows up on both sides of the ball. She closes hard, works to seal seams, and plays with a physicality that consistently impacts the flow of the match. Even though she is currently sidelined with injury, the body of work she put together early on is hard to overlook. She doesn't get locked into one role—she reads the flow and adjusts accordingly.   What stands out is how she manages imperfect situations. Livia stays composed, makes mid-air adjustments, and finds ways to still produce when the timing isn't perfect. That level of control and feel for the game allows her to extend rallies and create scoring opportunities others might miss. She's grown into her frame and is starting to translate that size into real production at the net. Offensively, she's showing increased confidence in first tempo, attacking with more pace and conviction when the connection is there.   Defensively, you can see the shift—she's no longer just occupying space, she's working to take it away. Gabriella is pressing more consistently, closing gaps, and beginning to affect hitters in a meaningful way.
