Meet a few of Nebraska's future backcourt anchors.

Our updated Nebraska 2029 watch list has brought over 100 new athletes to the fold, so we have quite a group to introduce and highlight. We've already met some pin hitters and setters who broke into the database, but we're missing a vital piece of the freshman puzzle.

This libero group is stacked. Nebraska's 2029 liberos made an immense early impact on the prep stage last fall, and we've been exposed to so many more stars through the ongoing club campaign. Those two trends have yielded more freshmen that we couldn't wait to discuss in our post-release coverage.

So, let's start the conversation.

This feature wouldn't be complete without one of [program_tooltip program_id='428728' first='River' last='City Jrs']'s best defenders. Svehla has already made a massive prep impact with Blair High School, culminating in nearly 500 digs as a freshman last fall. This head-turning number translates into extraordinary on-court leadership when Svehla suits up for [program_tooltip program_id='428728' first='River' last='City Jrs'] 15 Navy. The team's successful outing at the ASICS Presidents' Day Classic offered further testament of Svehla's willingness to dig heavy heat and guide her fellow backcourt specialists.

Speaking of big outings at the ASICS Presidents' Day Classic, we have to give a nod to one of the many defensive gems from Premier Nebraska 15 Red. Cole's rock-steady passing and defensive grit helped 15 Red reach the Omaha podium in the event's 15 Club division. We were first exposed to Cole's high-energy style when 15 Red played a challenging early gauntlet of Great Plains Region tournaments. This invaluable experience cemented Cole's place on the watch list and will lay the foundation for her rankings rise, too.

Club Legacy's liberos might be the unsung heroes of the group's recent rise in the Great Plains hierarchy. That leads us to Brabec, an Elkhorn North freshman who leads an outstanding end line corps for Club Legacy 15 Alpha. Like many of the teams mentioned in this feature, 15 Alpha climbed to the Presidents' Day Classic Gold bracket behind some spectacular individual performances. Brabec anchored that effort in more ways than one. Aside from her ability to control first contacts, Brabec is also an eager secondary setter who helps her attackers prosper.

Elkhorn North gets on the board again, but we're shifting to Nebraska Juniors for this one. We have to give Kruse a nod after her Nebraska Juniors 15 Gray crew won the 15 Select title at the Presidents' Day Classic. 15 Gray wielded plenty of head-turning attackers at the Omaha event, but Kruse was the catalyst for many highlight-worthy terminations. She has tremendous range outside her platform, allowing her to snare balls that might otherwise drift out of reach. Kruse combines that with all the hustle and effort you'd want from your star libero.

We're heading to the Star City for our next two libero entries. Fernandez climbs an age group to compete with [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 16 Lime, and it's a worthwhile move for the Lincoln East freshman. This is an agile, fearless defender who will readily embrace any DS role she's given in the 16 Lime backcourt. Fernandez has also weaponized her aggressive serve to turn the ball control tides on the other side of the net. This well-rounded effort has given us a new wave of under-the-radar [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] standouts to follow.

[program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 15 Black is on our watch list for upcoming tournament visits, and Mahan should be in the spotlight throughout. She has been a perfect fit for a 15 Black lineup stacked with emerging libero talent. [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] offenses are predicated on speed and efficiency, making Mahan's pinpoint passes doubly important. The Lincoln Pius X freshman has delivered her share of dimes and will take that impact to the national scene.

Tremblay has been a trendsetter for Nebraska Elite 15 Prime, especially during the team's busy early-season calendar. This crew was one of two Nebraska Elite 15s teams to take on our Prep Dig Iowa Clash in Des Moines, giving us an in-person look at Tremblay's indispensable presence in the back row. This versatile ball control asset can also shoulder a setting role and influence more than just the first contact. Tremblay's multi-position development will remain a storyline as we evaluate our first 2029 rankings.
