The database expands.

Our latest wave of rankings updates concludes with Nebraska's Class of 2029. This refresh is all about new additions, as we'll cover in some of the points below. We don't have a ranked hierarchy for this group yet, but our pool of athletes has grown for when that time comes. For now, we're enjoying the start of the journey with this star-studded freshman cast.

Here are a few storylines and points to consider before we dive into the nitty-gritty details on our Nebraska 2029 watch list.

No Rankings--Yet

As our intro mentioned, this is not a true set of rankings yet. The 2029 list is still sorted alphabetically.

Still, we're already considering a few early standouts among Nebraska's newest wave of prep athletes. This year's club season has put several persistent game-changers on our radar, especially with so many Great Plains teams locking up GJNC bids. National venues bring out the best in a class's top-tier players.

What does this mean for the future of our rankings? First, we still have a lot of pivotal club events to cover before we start establishing a 2029 hierarchy. That includes the Show Me Qualifier, which will be a focal point of this weekend's coverage. Then, of course, we pivot to bid tournaments, pre-Nationals events, and the big summer trips to Indianapolis and Orlando. We have a lot to see.

We're also looking forward to the next wave of post-GJNC showcases over the summer. This gap between the club and high school seasons will be the launching point for our next wave of updates, and we'll have much to consider regarding Nebraska's 2029s.

That should lead to our first ranked list, though the size and scope are uncertain. We usually aim for an initial Top 25, and that will likely be the baseline for our next update. Anything more is icing on the cake.

All the Newness

Let's get into some of the numbers.

Just like last week's Class of 2028 update, this 2029 refresh brings over 100 new names into our database--116, to be exact. We knew the club season would deliver dozens of fresh faces for our radar, and we went to work behind the scenes. And it's only just getting started.

Starting as a freshman on the varsity stage is a rare feat. Nebraska has seen a fair amount of impactful 2029s on the prep side already, but the 15s campaign inevitably exposes us to players we've never scouted before. Local venues, especially tournaments like the ASICS Presidents' Day Classic, were indispensable as we looked for 2029 prospects. More GPR showcases remain on the calendar, too.

Fanning Out

These 100-plus new names came from every corner of Nebraska's club landscape.

We've been caught up in that triple-digit number, but this update wasn't solely about quantity. These databases need variety. We toured rosters from so many of the Great Plains Region's top club programs. Here are a few of the clubs represented in our latest update:

This isn't an exhaustive list, but we'll have multiple athletes to cover from all of these clubs over the next several days. Introductions will be plentiful.

Moreover, we had a chance to revisit some of last fall's high school gems that we might have missed in our last update. This has brought a few more rural athletes to our 2029 list, giving us a broader group to cover heading into the summer.

And, of course, we still have a long way to go. Having over 250 athletes in our watch list outpaces just about any class we've covered at this point in the cycle. But we can still do more.

Stick around for a while.
