Classics in the 16 Open at Can Am (Pt. 2)

Check it out now!</a></em></strong></strong></em></strong></strong></p>   <p><strong><em>--</em></strong></p>   <p>The Can Am Classis has come and gone! This year's edition of the international clash was truly one for the books.</p>   <p>The Midwest teams in attendance, once again, showed up, showed out and dominated. The 16 Open Division saw a nice mix of both the best in the 16s division right now as well as the 15s. There was even an insane 14s squad up in here too. The range in ages and level created a fun atmosphere of competition to the championship.</p>   <p>Let's break it all down of who all shined the brightest. There are plenty of names to discuss, be sure to check out these athletes!</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='783033' first='Lillian' last='Weakley'] - TVC</h2>   <p>This player doesn't take long to make her presence known on the volleyball courts. [player_tooltip player_id='783033' first='Lillian' last='Weakley'] has a clear height advantage over her counterparts and she uses it to good effect. As the first line of defense, Weakley acts as a great slow down for TVC to pick up transition opportunities. When they can find Weakley in transition, the game opens wide up for this team.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='885461' first='Riley' last='Harrah'] - Legacy</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='885461' first='Riley' last='Harrah'] continues to look more and more improved as the season goes on. While she doesn't get the highest volume of attempts, what she does with hers is what makes her stand out. Harrah is finding another altitude to her game and she's putting some more pace on her ball that makes her all the more effective of a point scorer.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='885464' first='Charlotte' last='Keyes'] - Legacy</h2>   <p>In the middle, this player is a constant for Legacy 15-1s. [player_tooltip player_id='885464' first='Charlotte' last='Keyes'] brings a complete game that keeps her an intangible on the court. Her block is a force to be reckoned with and opens up so much room for her team to run with. Much like Harrah, she's limited on swings, but when she gets her shots, she takes them with a dominating fashion.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='881552' first='Mya' last='McKinnon'] - MVA</h2>   <p>Another elite level middle in the Can Am Classic, [player_tooltip player_id='881552' first='Mya' last='McKinnon'] is poised to a big summer ahead with this kind of play. After a stellar fall, McKinnon has consistently been a weapon for MVA in the middle. When they can run this player on any route, she is delivering and pushing her squad ahead.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='664290' first='Heidi' last='White'] - MVA</h2>   <p>Running the show for MVA, [player_tooltip player_id='664290' first='Heidi' last='White'] is a setter that could be a real game changer for a program on the hunt for their 28 setter this June. White brings a poise to the court that really makes a difference. With her balanced offense and timely nature, White is able to put her attackers in great positions to score.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='881556' first='Stella' last='Polavin'] - MVA</h2>   <p>When in doubt, just throw that ball out to [player_tooltip player_id='881556' first='Stella' last='Polavin'] and she will take care of things. To see Polavin's growth throughout the year from last club season, throughout high school and to now is nothing short of impressive. She's a driving force to this team that can take over a match when needed. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='958515' first='Molly' last='Hickey'] - Legacy</h2>   <p>We have seen a lot of [player_tooltip player_id='958515' first='Molly' last='Hickey'] this season, but not with her typical surroundings. Now, with her team at 14-1 Adidas, Hickey is proving herself to be one of the early top prospects in the coming rookie class. At such a young age, Hickey is playing with a level of composure and comprehension that you don't see too often at this level.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='977297' first='Layla' last='Ljacaj'] - Legacy</h2>   <p>One of Hickey's favorite options on the court, and to no one's surprise, is [player_tooltip player_id='977297' first='Layla' last='Ljacaj']. This is another player that has been accumulating a lot of buzz going into her rookie high school season. In the middle, Ljacaj plays a cerebral game. It's a type of game that I find very reminiscent to recent grad, Olivia Grenadier. She can bang with the best of them, but she's also not above throwing and jamming to open court on the quick plays to propel her team ahead. Her offense is top notch and she is a speedy close to the block.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='984451' first='Cate' last='Verkeyn'] - Legacy</h2>   <p>Maybe a player that acts as an underrated glue for this team is their six rotation outside hitter, [player_tooltip player_id='984451' first='Cate' last='Verkeyn']. In every rotation of the game, Verkeyn touches the ball quite a bit. She's the team's outlet attacker down the stretch of rallies and she is the last option for any team's serving target. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='622403' first='Petra' last='Townsend'] - Legacy</h2>   <p>I say this time and time again, when you have a real good opposite at this level, you are far ahead of the rest. It makes sense too, because Legacy's opposite, [player_tooltip player_id='622403' first='Petra' last='Townsend'], is a stud! She's a go to weapon in many situations and can deliver from a variety of ways. Her size offers up an ease to scoring that most don't have.
