[program_tooltip program_id='428799' first='Rockwood' last='Thunder'] 15 Elite continues to show signs of a group loaded with future high-end prospects, but what truly separates them is their ability to operate as a cohesive unit and respond to coaching. That collective approach, buying in, executing, and trusting one another, is what makes them so dangerous. With a body of work that already demands attention, the Thunder have positioned themselves as a serious contender. Aiming to add the Prep Dig Gauntlet to their list of accomplishments, this team looks ready to embrace the challenge of one of the premier events on the national calendar. Their résumé backs it up. After securing an Open bid to the USAV Girls Junior National Championship in Indianapolis, Rockwood has stacked together an impressive season highlighted by two tournament championships, including a victory at the Dennis Lafata Classic. They've also posted a runner-up finish, a strong ninth-place showing in Salt Lake City, and delivered a quality performance on their home floor at the Nike Mideast Qualifier. Add in a top-19 finish at the NIT Triple Crown, and it becomes clear this group has been tested across multiple high-level stages. What makes it even more intriguing is the sense that there's still another gear waiting to be unlocked. This team continues to evolve, clean up details, and gain confidence with each outing. The Gauntlet now sets the stage not just as another event, but as an opportunity to measure just how far this group can go. For everyone watching, expect a competitive showing and quite possibly more if everything clicks. *While this article being composed this team came out swinging and won 2026 Indy Cup!

Back Row Warriors

These aren't your typical liberos and defensive specialists, and settling isn't part of the equation. [player_tooltip player_id='778855' first='Kailey' last='Lane'] and [player_tooltip player_id='956040' first='Hannah' last='Scerba'] bring more than just shared positions; they bring a standard of play that drives the entire backcourt. Scerba pairs academic success with high-level performance on the floor, playing a key role in helping her high school program capture a Missouri state title. She embraces pressure situations and performs with confidence when the lights are brightest. Quick to read the ball off contact, she covers ground effortlessly and isn't afraid to sacrifice her body to extend a rally. Her passing is clean and controlled, and she's more than capable of stepping in to deliver a quality set to the outside, keeping the offense on schedule. Lane matches that fire with a disciplined, steady approach. She plays low and balanced, staying true to her platform and consistently delivering accurate passes. Her movement is sharp and intentional, allowing her to close space and handle tough serves or swings with control. She also adds versatility, occasionally stepping into a jump set to keep the ball in rhythm and give her hitters options. They form a skilled, determined backline duo reliable in serve receive, relentless on defense, and capable of keeping plays alive when points look finished.

Floor Generals

The floor general duties fall to Mia Conrad and [player_tooltip player_id='774313' first='Alexa' last='Hastings'] two well-rounded setters who are central to how this team operates. Each brings a different flavor, but both keep the offense organized and effective. Hastings carries a winning background, coming off a state title run with her high school program, and she brings that same competitive edge into this setting. She plays with a calm presence but pairs it with a constant push to elevate those around her. Technically sharp, she makes the game look natural whether it's a perfectly timed back set, a well-placed dump to catch a defense leaning, or her ability to read hitters and deliver in rhythm. Her understanding of the game reflects the work put in behind the scenes. Mia brings a high-energy presence with a strong, stable base that allows her to operate under control. There's a scrappy element to her game she's active, engaged, and willing to do the extra work to keep rallies alive. Her jump sets create a clean arc, giving hitters time and space to operate, and when she's not setting, she holds her own defensively, extending plays with effort and awareness. Her résumé in the classroom and on the court All-Conference, All-District, and Academic honors highlights the consistency she brings.

Middle - Enforcers

Some players shy away from the demands of the middle the responsibility of controlling the net and anchoring the core. [player_tooltip player_id='774311' first='Nora' last='Butler'] and Alyssa “Ally” Pasagic do the opposite. They embrace it, staking their claim as impact players at the position. Pasagic brings an ultra-competitive edge, pairing length and athleticism with a relentless approach. She uses her frame effectively, turning her reach into an advantage both offensively and at the net. At the Pacific Northwest Qualifier, she played a key role in helping her team secure an Open bid to GJNC while hitting .400, an efficient, high-level showing that reflects her decision-making and ability to score. She plays fast, often getting ahead of the set, and her slide attack continues to develop into a tough look for opposing blockers. Butler creates a strong presence of her own, built on awareness and control. She reads the game well, picking up on hitter tendencies early and adjusting her positioning accordingly. That anticipation, combined with disciplined hand placement, allows her to be a consistent factor as a blocker. She brings strength at the net and finishes plays with authority, rounding out a well-balanced game.

PINS

An impressive group of attackers brings a level of versatility that can be difficult to match, capable of producing from multiple spots and keeping defenses guessing.

[player_tooltip player_id='766529' first='Ava' last='Hedley'] stands out immediately as a lefty with the ability to shift across the front line while remaining efficient in every role. Her performance at NIT Triple Crown, where she recorded 46 kills and hit .284, highlights both her production and decision-making at a high-level event. She can attack from either pin while also contributing as a steady back-row option, giving her true all-around value.

[player_tooltip player_id='774316' first='Danaya' last='Petkova'], a 6'1” outside, presents a polished yet punishing presence. Her approach is clean, but the results are anything but routine. She breaks down defenses methodically, mixing shots and power without becoming predictable, comfortable going line, cross, or tooling the block. Recognized as an AVCA Phenom, she's a matchup problem from the moment she steps onto the court.

Sami Brown adds another dimension with her athleticism and range. When the set finds her, she rises and delivers with force. Comfortably operating from the middle or the right side, she brings flexibility that allows the offense to adjust seamlessly. At the net, she's just as impactful, using her length and timing to form a strong blocking presence.

[player_tooltip player_id='774309' first='Lana' last='Bakrac'] offers a dynamic left-handed option with bounce and adaptability. She's capable of adjusting to out-of-system balls and still producing quality swings. Beyond her front-row contributions, she holds her own in the backcourt passing with control and reading the play as it develops.

Collin Cleland rounds out the group, contributing as both an attacker and a reliable defensive presence. She brings balance to the rotation, capable of handling back-row responsibilities while still providing an option in transition.
