They're reloading again, and that's what makes this team so dangerous heading into the season. After bringing home another state championship, most programs would be trying to replace pieces and figure out a new identity. That's not the feeling around this group. The expectation is still there, and honestly, this roster gives every reason why.

And the biggest problem for the rest of 4A is how much this team still returns.

This is a team with experience, offensive balance, size at the net, and players who already understand what pressure volleyball looks like in the biggest moments. The tempo is going to stay fast. The offense is still going to spread defenses out, and they're going to continue forcing teams to defend every rotation.

Everybody in 4A is going to be chasing them again.

It starts with one of the most complete players in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='807920' first='Elleora' last='Utecht'] enters the season already committed to Mississippi State University, and she continues to be one of the toughest outs in Minnesota high school volleyball. What makes her dangerous isn't just power. It's how complete her offensive game has become. She can terminate in system, stay available in transition, and continue creating offense even when the play breaks down. She sees the block well, adjusts mid-rally, and doesn't need a perfect set to still create pressure. That's the difference between a good hitter and a high-level pin that changes matches.

Then you look at the setting position, and [program_tooltip program_id='430430' first='Lakeville' last='South'] still has one of the best leaders in the state running the offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='453085' first='Kaelyn' last='Bjorklund'], committed to Clemson University and already in the conversation for Minnesota Senior of the Year, controls the flow of this offense with confidence and tempo. She keeps hitters in rhythm and understands when to speed teams up versus when to settle the offense down. The ball comes out clean, the tempo stays available, and she makes defenses defend the full width of the court. Even when the pass drifts off the net, she still finds ways to create quality swings and keep the offense balanced.

That combination alone makes [program_tooltip program_id='430430' first='Lakeville' last='South'] difficult to prepare for, and that's what makes this roster even tougher to defend.

[player_tooltip player_id='918649' first='Katriel' last='Utecht'] is one of the younger players on this roster that feels ready for a much bigger role. As only a sophomore, she already shows strong offensive confidence and continues improving her ability to manage swings against a formed block. She looks comfortable attacking in transition, stays available through extended rallies, and doesn't disappear when the game speeds up.

Claire Conaway gives them another outside option that continues to bring pressure offensively. She's becoming more comfortable attacking different areas of the court instead of relying on one shot, and that matters as blockers become quicker and more disciplined. Hitters who can adjust mid-rally become difficult to defend, and she's continuing to trend that direction.

Through the middle, this front row is still going to cause problems.

[player_tooltip player_id='822465' first='Aurianna' last='Benshoof'] brings physicality and continues to impact the match at the net. She's taking away space defensively, improving her block timing, and becoming more disciplined closing seams instead of reacting late. Middles who can influence both offense and defense become incredibly valuable in 4A, and she continues to grow into that role.

[player_tooltip player_id='455617' first='McKenna' last='Ressler'] gives them another middle presence capable of changing momentum at the net. She stays active in transition and does a strong job staying connected laterally, which helps the defense behind her stay organized. As her offensive timing tightens up, she becomes another difficult matchup teams have to account for.

[player_tooltip player_id='771614' first='Allie' last='Rivers'] adds more depth and athleticism to the middle group, and that matters for a team trying to defend another title. Long seasons wear teams down, but [program_tooltip program_id='430430' first='Lakeville' last='South'] continues to bring wave after wave of front-row pressure, and Rivers gives them another piece capable of contributing physically at the net.

And then there's the younger talent continuing to develop around them.

Amy Utecht already gives this team another setter capable of keeping tempo available and the offense moving. Having another athlete who understands pace and offensive rhythm creates flexibility, and those pieces become important over the course of a long season.

Eliana Merrill continues to bring versatility to the right side and gives [program_tooltip program_id='430430' first='Lakeville' last='South'] another option offensively when rallies extend. Players who stay available in transition and continue applying pressure late in rallies fit exactly how this team wants to play.

What continues to separate [program_tooltip program_id='430430' first='Lakeville' last='South'] is they don't just rely on talent. They pressure teams with depth, offensive balance, and the ability to stay aggressive through extended rallies. When the pass is clean, they can run tempo and spread the floor. When the rally breaks down, they still have players capable of creating offense out of system. That ability to still create offense when rallies break down is a huge reason why they continue winning at such a high level.

And honestly, this roster might have even more pieces coming.

That's what makes [program_tooltip program_id='430430' first='Lakeville' last='South'] so intriguing heading into the season. You already know what they return, but it still feels like there are athletes ready to step into larger roles and continue elevating this lineup.

Everybody in 4A is going to circle them on the schedule. The expectation around this program has already been established.

Now the question becomes this:

Can anybody stop them from doing it again?~Theresa @prepdigdakotas

In Case You Missed It
