Next Level Middles Bring The Heat : 14s Chi Town Classic

While the gym was finally starting to cool down at [program_tooltip program_id='432011' first='Mission' last='Volleyball'] in Marengo, not many of us were ready for what was coming next. Following the 15s, the next group took the floor, and the temperature shot right back up. The middles came to play. They brought the heat right back into the gym, elevating both the level of play and the intensity of every rally. From quicks in transition to closing blocks at the net, they made their presence known early and often, turning the momentum in their teams' favor.    This would be my second time observing Mia closely while playing for Sky High, and she is becoming more comfortable and impressive each go-round. There is a clear work ethic in rapport. The improvement is clear, the hunger and intensity even clearer. Create walls on defense, get touches, and always keep her head in the game. Very active with sneaky athleticism.     The best part of Everyly is that she wants the ball; she doesn't hide it. Knows she is on a good team, so she plays her part, but she is such a well-rounded player at this age that she does a little of everything well. Powerful and quick when she gets off the net for the attack. Willing blocker with good awareness.     Plays with a chip on her shoulder and a mean streak. Cracks a smile every once in a while, and when she does, it might not be well for the opposition. Very bouncy middle, quick feet, steady swing, and good vision of the floor. Has the ability to run every set from the middle her setter calls without any misstep.     Workhorse! She might play out of system at times, but it's all for the better of the team. Also displaying her skills and abilities without fail or error. Covers balls, digs, and might even see her attempt a set for the fun of it. Very sound in her game, strong attacker with versatility.     Stood out for being a wall! Laser-focused, very court aware, and high IQ for age range. Very fundamentally sound with good technique. Making sure to get to the ball, she intimidates attackers, making them think twice about going up against her.     High-energy, high-activity player. This type of athlete will deliver the production you want and need from your middle, with some extra. She is talented with a lot of upside. Moves around her setters very well and adjusts without complications. Swing is textbook; her approach is as well, paired with speed and agility, she is going to be a force.     Power and strength are the obvious at first glance in her game. Then you watch, notice she has finesse and is light on her feet. Quick to the ball and explosive at times.
