2028 Middles Ready To Reach The Next Level

Be sure to get locked in before you get left out.**</em></p>   <p>The Class of 2028 is really impressive at middle hitter, including some of the very best in the country.</p>   <p>Heading into the fall season, here's a look at eight middles that are ready to reach the next level with their game in their junior year.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='728850' first='Emme' last='Dorchy'], Royal Oak</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Dorchy has shown she can play anywhere along the net, but her best skillset may be in the middle. Either way, she's not afraid to take on a big workload and shows the ability to be just as strong with her swing on the first kill as she is on the last. Dorchy stays within herself and makes smart plays, limiting her errors.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='814463' first='Johanna' last='Duits'], Lakewood</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Duits has quietly been showing she's one of the most dangerous middles in the Grand Rapids area, which means she's among the state's elite. Her arm generates tremendous power and she emphasizes her follow-through to deliver consistently velocity. Blockers have struggled to slow her down and that should continue this fall.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='746527' first='Evelyn' last='Engelhardt'], Garber</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Garber has a great outside to work with, but Engelhardt has proven she can handle a big offensive share as well in the middle or on the right side. Her footwork is at a high level and that translates well with her length, creating some smooth attacks. Engelhardt is also adding levels to her defensive play to become a more complete player.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='765783' first='Ava' last='Finney'], Flushing</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Finney shows a lot of quickness and athleticism at the net and is making strong strides in her game heading into her junior year. Already with a good swing and solid timing, Finney is improving with her blocking to be a consistent defensive presence as well. Finney is quickly becoming one of the most complete middles in the class.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='569774' first='London' last='Gibson'], Marian</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">This should be a big fall for Gibson, who can really elevate herself as one of the top middles in the state. She should see more looks and get a chance to display all she's capable of. With a good vertical, and a powerful swing, an added level of intensity will help Gibson take her game to the next level.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='809569' first='Cambree' last='Krause'], FH Central</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Krause has a lot of spring in her step and off the floor, which leads to some emphatic kills. Krause plays a wide variety of attack angles and does a nice job of making adjustments mid-swing to find some open space. This fall should be a big season for Krause to establish herself as a next-level player.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='846725' first='Clover' last='Nash'], Lake Orion</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Nash has already had some strong moments in her prep career, but 2026 should bring the best out of her game. Nash stays very engaged and active at the net. Not many middles are going to work harder than she will. Her timing gets better and better, allowing her to be a consistent blocker. Continuing to face the top players in the state should help bring more out of her game.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='584595' first='Jamie' last='Smith'], Cass Tech</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Smith is really starting to find her next level of play as she's showing she can be one of the most explosive players in the state. Smith gets big air and climbs the ladder well to deliver some devastating attacks at sharp angles that opponents just can't dig up. She's going to put an impressive highlight reel together this fall.</p>
