2028 Setters Ready To Lead This Fall

<p>It's going to be a big fall season for the Class of 2028.</p>   <p>Junior year is a chance to really stand out and make a name for yourself as a leader and prospect at the next level.</p>   <p>Here's a look at some of the 2028 setters I think are going to really show their talents come August.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='765790' first='Piper' last='Ayotte'], Skyline</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Ayotte was a key piece in a deep postseason run for Skyline last fall and she should be excited to build on that in 2026. Ayotte shows a lot of composure at the net, while bringing in a diverse set of skills. She can impact the game in every phase and is only getting better as her speed of play increases.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='553582' first='Kalina' last='Fast'], Waverly</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">One of the setters in this class that is going under the radar, Fast is a game-changing player that can run a smooth offense and also dominate as a right side. She's explosive, aggressive, and shows really good footwork. As she continues to find success, it should only improve her confidence level and willingness to trust in her skills. Look for big things from her this fall.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='644142' first='Ava' last='Kiernan'], South Lyon East</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">The 6'2” Kiernan has already showed a lot in terms of her potential, but this fall will arguably be her biggest role with East yet. She's the lone returning setter for the team to turn to, and she's taken a lot of big steps in other areas of her game. I expect this fall to be a chance for Kiernan really to showcase all she's capable, and put a stamp on the fact she's a top 2028 prospect.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='939684' first='Sofie' last='Sanders'], Hudsonville</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Anytime you're running an offense like Hudsonville, you have to be pretty talented. Sanders had the Eagles hitting an impressive number in 2025 and I like that to get even stronger this fall with another year of experience under her belt. She's got a great connection with her middles, and has proven she can develop new hitters quickly. Sanders will be a handful for the Grand Rapids area to deal with.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='526553' first='Liv' last='Wender'], Grand Rapids CC</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">After sitting out the 2025 fall season when she transferred to CC, Wender has to be chomping at the bit to show what she can do with her new team. She's had a strong club year and continued to put in the work to be ready for this fall and I'm excited to see how far she can elevate a talented CC offense.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='664290' first='Heidi' last='White'], East Grand Rapids</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">White did a really nice job of spreading the ball around the EGR offense last fall, so I expect the Pioneers to remain that impressive level of depth this fall. The 6-foot White can push the tempo and keep opponents guessing. I also look for her defensive play to take a big step forward to make her a highly sought after prospect in the Class of 2028.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='743769' first='Joeleigh' last='White'], Gull Lake</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">White is listed at 5'9” but plays longer through a good reach and nice lift off the floor. She shows advanced footwork and agility in her setting, which allows her to get very hittable balls to her pins and still make the quick connection to her middles. Her athleticism allows her to play on the right side and not miss a beat as well.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='574175' first='Payton' last='Woodruff'], Country Day</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">It's no stretch to call Woodruff one of the top 2028 setters in the country. So, while she's not exactly going to be putting her name on the map, she does face a big challenge this fall in needing to create some new consistent weapons for the DCD offense. This team is going to have to rely on her more than the previous two championship seasons and I expect Woodruff to be even better than she already has been.</p>    <p></p>
