The PrepDig California 2029 Rankings have officially been released.

With club season entering its final stretch, this ranking reflects months of in-person evaluations, film review, tournament coverage, coach feedback, and athlete tracking conducted by our PrepDig scouting staff.

How Are The Rankings Built?

One of the most common questions I receive is how the rankings process works.

Our evaluators spend hundreds of hours watching athletes compete in person, studying film, reviewing tournament results, tracking development, and communicating with coaches throughout the volleyball community.

The rankings are also a living document.

Athletes are added, moved, and reevaluated throughout the year as new information, film, and performances become available. We also maintain an Official Watch List consisting of athletes who are actively being evaluated for future ranking consideration.

Are Rankings Perfect?

No.

And our evaluators would be the first people to say that.

Player evaluation is not an exact science. Every athlete develops at a different pace, and new information becomes available every weekend. What is real is the amount of time, experience, and effort that goes into building the rankings as accurately as possible.

One of the best ways athletes can help evaluators learn more about them is by staying visible. Updated film, social media clips, showcases, tournaments, and direct communication all help create a more complete evaluation.

Rankings Are A Tool, Not A Destination

A ranking can create attention, but it does not define an athlete's future.

Development, consistency, work ethic, coachability, and continued growth will always matter more than a number next to a player's name.

Congratulations to every athlete who earned a place in this ranking and to every athlete currently working toward future consideration.

I'll be highlighting many of these athletes in the coming days and giving them an opportunity to share their own stories, goals, and perspectives beyond the rankings.

If you know an athlete you believe should be ranked, please reach out by emailing the California Ranker, Michael Deleon at Michael@prepdig.com with information, film, or updates. You can also connect with him on Instagram and X by searching @CoachMikeDZ. Our scouting staff is always looking to learn more about athletes across California and appreciates the information families, coaches, and players share throughout the year.

Want More Exposure in front of the California Ranker? Michael Deleon will be scouting the California PrepDig Showcase Series. This is designed for athletes who want to take ownership of their recruiting journey and better understand how visibility, evaluation, and opportunity work together. These events offer more than competition. They provide athletes with a chance to learn how exposure works, compete in front of evaluators, build confidence, and gain valuable insight into what coaches are looking for at each stage of development.

Whether your goal is to improve communication, showcase your skills, earn recognition, receive meaningful evaluation, or simply learn how to stand out in a competitive environment, each showcase is built to help athletes grow both on and off the court. If you're ready to invest in your development, tell your story, and put yourself on the radar, registration is open.
