June 15th Watch List - Setters from Michigan Atop the Lists

June 15th has been marked on the calendar and it's one of the busiest days of the year for prospective 2028s.</p>   <p>Since it's inception, there has never been a shortage of excitement, celebration and conversation around this date. We're seeing the formation of the future of our sport. This year will be another insanely exciting class to track down who goes where and who snags who. The race between the powers in the NCAA is the tightest its ever been.</p>   <p>We could talk about this on a national scale, but we're going to look at one of the biggest pools of athletes in the 2028 class that'll be making some noise. And that is the Michigan kids. This a growing hot bed of talent that has been slowly but surely taking over the club scene as well as the college game. </p>   <p>First up, we're talking about the top setters in this class that you'll need to keep tabs on throughout the coming weeks. We will be in for a treat here.</p>   <h1 class="wp-block-heading">Top of the Lists</h1>   <figure class="wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2025/10/DSC08665_73f6d7.jpg?w=769" alt="" class="wp-image-899214" style="width:244px;height:auto" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">[player_tooltip player_id='574175' first='Payton' last='Woodruff']</figcaption></figure>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='574175' first='Payton' last='Woodruff'] - Detroit Country Day/Legacy</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='574175' first='Payton' last='Woodruff'] has more than made herself a staple in the game here in Michigan. She's ranked as the number one prospect in the class for a reason and that reason is her game changing touch on the court. In just two short years, Woodruff has managed to secure two straight state championships for Detroit Country Day, the first two in school history. On the club side, she's headed some of the most successful teams in recent history with a USAV National Championship at 13 Open, a top five finish at 14 Open and a top ten finish at 15 Open. </p>   <p>Woodruff has become the hot commodity in the national scene, camping at some of the most elite programs. Woodruff has made stops at Tennessee, LSU, Maryland, Ohio State and Duke. She's a player that has a composure and control of the game that you need at her position which makes her such a hot addition for any of these programs.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='644142' first='Ava' last='Kiernan'] - South Lyon East/Michigan Elite</h2>   <p>This is very much a player that is going to turn a lot of heads in the coming years. Heck, [player_tooltip player_id='644142' first='Ava' last='Kiernan'] already is! For a player to have only been in her position for a little over a year, the vast development is something that needs to be studied. While we can talk about Kiernan's pure setting skills all day, but it's the things you can't train that is bringing alarm to a lot of coaches. For starters, Ava stands at 6'2 (!), and for any program in the country looking to get taller, stronger and faster, you wouldn't really look much further than this prospect. </p>   <p>Along with her physical presence, Kiernan is as raw as they come, and is already finding tons of success. You can take a prospect that has been honing in this craft since they were 12, or you can take a chance on the 6'2 player who has this insane, and unknown, ceiling. Kiernan has been camping around a lot of elite level places including UCLA, Missouri, Dayton and Maryland to name a few.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='664290' first='Heidi' last='White'] - East Grand Rapids/MVA</h2>   <p>Now, we have talked about the dynamic duo of the east side, we need to chat about the setting duo out west that is turning some heads. Up first, [player_tooltip player_id='664290' first='Heidi' last='White'] out of MVA. This player is finding some serious moment, fast! Her 161 team at MVA has been one of the most successful teams in recent memory for her club and there's no surprise in that success. Her court presence offers a sense of calm and she's equipped to run a balanced offense given her squad at MVA. White has been around the country with camps, going locally to Notre Dame and Northwestern before taking stops at South Carolina and Ohio State.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='850734' first='Kyla' last='Kuiper'] - Zeeland East/FaR Out</h2>   <p>If it's not White we're talking about, we are surely talking about [player_tooltip player_id='850734' first='Kyla' last='Kuiper'] when it comes to the west side setters. And this is another player that is going to surprise a lot of people in these coming months. Getting a lot of viewings of Kuiper in action over her high school career, this player has blossomed into one of the strongest players in the midwest. She's reading the game well, she's feeding her hitters and she does it with a consistency that makes the difference for her FaR Out team.</p>   <p>Kuiper has surely moved herself up the ladder in Michigan and has caught the attention of some big names. She's most recently attended camp at Michigan State. Given there 2027 recruiting class, this may not be a slam dunk, but it gives a barometer of where Kuiper can hang with on a national scale. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='526553' first='Liv' last='Wender'] - GR Catholic Central/Legacy</h2>   <p>This is another setter from the west side that we don't talk about all that much but we will a lot more here soon. We haven't seen her much in the high school game given her recent transfer from Lowell to GRCC, but she's been making a lot of waves on the club side playing up on 17s over at Legacy. There, she has been heading up one of the best 2s teams in the midwest, if not the country. Doing this all despite her youth and being one of the biggest reasons of that found success.</p>   <p>Wender is a player that could really surprise a lot of people here in the coming months, because she has accumulated quite the camp resume. [player_tooltip player_id='579822' first='Addison' last='Dresch'] may be undersized, but she is quick, dynamic and full of fire! She'll be the kind of player that sneaks up on programs and find a lot of success. She is playing on L2's top team and is a driving force for their program.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='553582' first='Kalina' last='Fast'] - Waverly/FaR Out</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='553582' first='Kalina' last='Fast'] is going to be a fascinating prospect to watch over the next few months. Not only from a recruiting standpoint, but from a development standpoint. She's as athletic as they come and as raw as they come. Fast is a player that could be a dynamic weapon on the court and fit into any position.
