The Class of 2028 continues to make its presence felt across Northern Nevada, with a new wave of athletes emerging as impact players and several prospects making strong cases for a rise in the rankings. Whether it's through improved skill development, standout performances during the club season, or taking on larger roles for their teams, these players are proving they belong in the conversation. Here's a look at some of the newest names catching our attention and the ranking risers from Northern Nevada who are building momentum heading into the next phase of their recruiting journey.    Maliska continues to establish herself as one of the more polished setters in her class. Acting as the quarterback of the offense, she does an excellent job distributing the ball and creating opportunities for her hitters to succeed. Her sets are consistently clean with little to no spin, and she excels at pushing the ball beyond the block to create favorable attacking situations. Maliska's court awareness allows her to place hitters in one-on-one matchups or attackable seams, making the offense more efficient and difficult to defend. Combined with strong footwork, the ability to jump set, and a high volleyball IQ, she consistently elevates the players around her. She also played a major role in helping her team earn a bid to the USAV National Championships, showcasing her ability to lead an offense on a high-performing team. Off the court, she maintains an impressive 4.0 GPA. --Kantessa Bryant-Miller @prepdignv     Couture's athleticism makes her a standout presence at the net. Her vertical ability and high contact point allow her to terminate balls with authority and power through opposing blocks. She possesses a clean, efficient approach that generates impressive explosiveness, helping her consistently get above the net and attack at a high level. Couture does an excellent job staying available in transition and finding seams in the block, making her a reliable offensive option throughout a match. Her recent 9-foot-10 approach jump highlights the athletic tools that continue to separate her from many players in her class, and she remains a middle blocker with significant upside moving forward.. --Kantessa Bryant-Miller @prepdignv     Lange has shown versatilty in her game, demonstrating the ability to contribute in multiple positions. She played a key role in her high school's state championship run as a setter, helping guide the offense with consistency and leadership. More recently, she has transitioned to a pin-hitting role during club season, showcasing her adaptability and willingness to do whatever her team needs to succeed. Whether setting or attacking, Lange brings value to the court and continues to expand her skill set. This summer, she has been actively attending camps to gain additional exposure and compete in front of college coaches, further demonstrating her commitment to the recruiting process and continued development. --Kantessa Bryant-Miller @prepdignv     Phillips brings a unique combination of size, versatility, and competitiveness to the court. Her high reach allows her to attack over blocks and create scoring opportunities that many hitters cannot access. While she primarily played pin this club season, she also contributes as a middle blocker during the high school season, highlighting her flexibility and overall value to a lineup. Phillips carries a strong 3.9 GPA and approaches the game with a resilient mindset. She credits her ability to reset after mistakes by reminding herself, "I got the next point, kill, or block," a mentality that allows her to stay confident and focused throughout matches. With plans to continue developing a stronger arm swing, Phillips has the tools and work ethic to keep elevating her game. --Kantessa Bryant-Miller @prepdignv     McMillen is a defensive standout who consistently impacts matches with her relentless effort and all-around skill set. She excels in serve receive, providing steady first contact and helping keep her team's offense in system. Defensively, she is willing to do whatever it takes to keep the ball alive, regularly throwing herself across the floor to extend rallies and make difficult saves. Her tough float serve creates problems for opposing passers, adding another layer to her game. McMillen is effective whether she's defending from left back as a libero or covering the court from middle back as a defensive specialist. With previous experience as a hitter, she also possesses the ability to attack from the back row, making her a versatile player who can contribute in multiple ways.
