Super Senior Classes in Northern Michigan for 2026

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In the Northern parts of Michigan, we are going to see some deep and talented senior class for the 2026 prep season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here's a look at some of the best you can find in the Upper Peninsula and northern parts of the Lower Peninsula.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Calumet</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Copper Kings are consistently a top contender in D3 and they will have some great senior leadership in 2026 behind libero <strong>Jess Anderson</strong>, setter <strong>Millie Lokus</strong> and outside <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='812409' first='Chloe' last='Coppo']</strong>. These three will provide a lot of leadership at key positions. <strong>Bailey Strom </strong>and <strong>Braylinn Antilla </strong>are also returning seniors that can put the ball away, giving this team plenty of capable arms.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Charlevoix</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In D3, Charlevoix is going to be a tough team to deal with, as it returns a healthy set of offensive options for their senior year. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='814250' first='Jaslyn' last='Blanton']</strong> and <strong>Mary Halberg</strong> have been able to handle the outside, while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='819619' first='Taryn' last='Carey'] </strong>is a strong middle to give this team a lot depth along the front. Setter <strong>Addison Shearer </strong>is also back as a senior to get these hitting options the ball. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='792280' first='Ayla' last='Kemp']</strong> will be a senior libero to help keep these offensive options in-system.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>McBain NMC</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A D4 program that should have some solid power up front with seniors is McBain Northern Michigan Christian. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='913693' first='Melanie' last='Bennett']</strong> is a strong outside option, while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='913725' first='Harper' last='Tossey'] </strong>is an athletic middle with good length. <strong>Myra Young </strong>and <strong>Willa DeZeeuw</strong> add extra depth on offense, while <strong>Lauren Isanhart</strong> will be a senior libero to help keep the defensive play strong.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Morley Stanwood</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Mohawks will be a solid team to deal with in D3 led by a strong outside hitter in <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='816366' first='Madeline' last='Kozuch']</strong>, who has a strong finishing rate while taking on a big offensive workload. Kozuch has her setter returning in senior <strong>Aivree Christensen</strong>, which should be a consistent connection for this offense. <strong>Jayda Vandyk</strong> will be another returning senior at the net to also provide some aid for Kozuch. <strong>Saig Ososki </strong>is a returning senior option in the back row that can keep the ball off the floor, along with Kozuch, one of the stronger defensive outsides.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Negaunee</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Miners are going to be one of the top teams in the Upper Peninsula thanks to a strong senior core. On the outside, <strong>Isla Engstrom </strong>and <strong>Lilia Mason </strong>are going to be a dynamite 1-2 punch. Aside from those two, senior hitters <strong>Gretel Johnson </strong>and<strong> Keira Waterman</strong> add depth, and <strong>Brielle Anderson </strong>is a returning setter that has chemistry with all of them. Negaunee also has its defensive leader back in senior <strong>Izzy Francisco</strong>, which should keep the team fundamentally strong.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Onekama</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In D4, look for Onekama to be well-balanced this fall. They have key senior leaders back in libero <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='801096' first='Ava' last='Mauntler']</strong> and setter <strong>Elizabeth McKeough</strong>. These two will be able to direct the squad on the floor and come through with key plays in all phases. <strong>Delaney McCarthy</strong> is also back on the outside to lead the attack. While not the biggest senior class, Onekama's trio should make a major impact.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Roscommon</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Bucks were one of the top teams in D3 last year and should again be able to compete with the top teams in the state this fall. The 1-2 punch of senior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='769601' first='Mara' last='Williams'] </strong>(Ferris State) and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='586777' first='Nemiah' last='Carper']</strong> at the net will be difficult for anyone in D3 to slow down. These two have great athleticism and power at the net, while also being able to be key defensive assets. <strong>Cami Hamina </strong>is a returning senior setter, while <strong>Autum Kehn </strong>is returning at libero to help keep this offense rolling along.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Sault Area</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This D2 squad will be interesting to watch, as they return five seniors that were All-Region in 2025. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='794621' first='Ivy' last='York'] </strong>will be back at libero, with a keen eye for being able to make a tough dig. <strong>Ella Potter </strong>returns as the setter, and she's got plenty of experience and chemistry coming back, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='829033' first='Ahnaka' last='Oshelski']</strong> will be a senior outside, <strong>Natalie Prestein </strong>is on the right side, and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='813593' first='Grace' last='Mayer'] </strong>is back in the middle.
