Those are great places to start, but we are looking for athletes that show leadership, sportsmanship and work ethic beyond what we usually see out there. Often times when selecting MVP type players, or featured players, you're getting the flashiest, highest profile player, the one that everyone looks at and goes, yeah big time player right there. For me, I start looking at your unsung heroes on the court, your Liberos, Setters, MB, the ones that do the dirty work and may not get the credit they deserve. Those players are often referred to as the "glue" of the team, or the "backbone" of the lineup, which translation means that they are the players that have those traits Avoli values and are pulling the team together and doing the work. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='932773' first='Jemma' last='Peterson'] is just that type of player. She's a Libero, who just constantly grinds, puts herself in the right spots and makes the plays to keep the team in the game. Skill wise, she's got a fantastic platform, shows great range, staying on her feet and getting her hips low to get good passes up and to the setters. What stood out to me more than that is that she was constantly encouraging her fellow showcase members, and her work ethic was second to none. She went non-stop from start to finish and gave you everything she had out there on the court. Her communication was spot-on all day and she did a great job helping players adjust to the play and adjustments from the other team. When I'm looking for a player that represents the traits Avoli is looking for in their athletes, [player_tooltip player_id='932773' first='Jemma' last='Peterson'] is a shining example. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
