Whether they are attacking from the pins, running the offense, or stepping into bigger roles from last year, these athletes will have a big say in how their teams perform this fall. Some are already well known names in the section, while others are newer to us. Here are a few of the players we can't wait to see back on the court this season. Her athleticism allows her to track down balls that many players can't reach, and she has a knack for turning difficult situations into points. Whether she is swinging in system or making something happen with those pesky out of system balls, Silas finds ways to score. Martinson is an aggressive outside hitter who isn't afraid to take a swing from anywhere in the front row. She does well when on the move, can run routes, and creates matchup problems for defenses. Her willingness to stay aggressive, combined with her ability to score nearly anywhere on the court, makes her a dangerous offensive weapon. With her physical presence and competitivenss, Martinson is set to be a major force at the net for Paynesville this fall. Boelter is no stranger to competing at the highest levels with having helped lead her team to back to back 3AA section championship appearances and state tournament runs. Last season, she dished out 831 assists while adding 176 digs to help her team. Boelter plays with excellent court awareness, makes smart decisions, and consistently puts her hitters in positions to succeed. With another year of experience and development under her belt, she is poised to be one of the top setters in the area and play a key role in another successful season. It's easy to forget Swann is only going to be a junior because of how comfortably she runs the offense. Last season, she piled up 644 assists and added 231 digs while running the court for Redwood Valley. She has a great feel for the game, makes smart decisions, and puts her hitters in positions where they can be successful. With another year of experience and training in the off season, we expect Swann to take another step forward, lead her team, and continue to be one of the key pieces for Redwood Valley. Lund is another junior who already has plenty of varsity experience under her belt. A versatile player, she split time between setter and right side last season, using her high volleyball IQ, court awareness, and all around skill set to help lead Windom Area to a 22-8 season. Whether she is running the court as the setter or attacking from the right side, Lund brings a steady presence and makes smart decisions that elevate her teammates.
