New Names to Keep On Your Radar This Upcoming Season

The biggest swings, blocks and scoring runs naturally attract attention at AAU Nationals. However, successful teams are also held together by controlled contacts, intelligent adjustments, coverage and communication. These five players consistently contributed in ways that extended beyond the most obvious highlights.    Carolyn provided value through her discipline, patience and attention to the flow of the match. She stayed connected to her teammates and handled the smaller responsibilities that allowed the group to remain organized. Carolyn did not chase involvement at the expense of the team's structure but acted decisively when her opportunity arrived. Her dependable approach improved the quality of the volleyball happening around her. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga     Landree maintained a consistent effort level from the beginning of each rally through its conclusion. She continued moving, covering and preparing for another opportunity after the first option disappeared. Her persistence helped her team recover from imperfect contacts and turn broken plays into competitive sequences. Landree's motor created additional chances that may not have existed without her continued involvement. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga     Jocelyn showed an understanding of how her movement and decisions affected the entire group around her. She remained composed during chaotic rallies and continued processing the action instead of reacting hurriedly. Jocelyn stayed prepared for the next contact and willingly handled the supporting work required to complete points. Her awareness gave her team greater balance and organization. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga     Lanie remained engaged in every phase of the rally, even when she was not responsible for the final contact. Her awareness allowed her to provide timely coverage, support and communication as plays developed. She adjusted to where the ball was going rather than remaining committed to where it was originally expected to go. Those details consistently gave her team cleaner opportunities and helped prevent avoidable breakdowns. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga     Rebekah gave her team an important level of control through disciplined positioning and early recognition. She worked to make difficult contacts usable instead of simply getting a hand on the ball. Her effort allowed her team to remain organized and transition from defense into legitimate scoring opportunities. Rebekah's composure also helped the players around her remain settled during faster and more chaotic stretches. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga    Not every meaningful contribution at AAU Nationals ends with a celebration at the net. Rebekah, Lanie, Jocelyn, Landree and Carolyn demonstrated the value of the reads, coverage and communication that happen before the final contact. Their attention to detail helped their teams play more complete volleyball throughout the tournament.
