Transition attacking is one of the easiest ways for a hitter to stand out.

A lot of players can score when everything is perfect. The real separation shows up after the first contact. Can a hitter get off the net, reset quickly, and still be available to score? Can they stay aggressive when the rally gets messy? That is where transition starts to matter.

The best attackers keep working, stay available, and find ways to become an option again. Hitters who can score in transition bring a different kind of value to the court.

This week, we are taking a look at four Class of 2029 athletes who continue to show promise in that area.

Fisher continues to show promise as a young hitter who stays active in transition. She works to get back into the play quickly and does not just watch the rally unfold after the first contact. Additionally, she shows good urgency getting available again, which is a big piece of becoming a reliable attacker. The more young hitters learn to stay dangerous outside of perfect situations, the more valuable they become, and Fisher is trending in that direction.

McGill is consistently active in transition and does a nice job staying available for her setter, even when the play starts to break down. As a middle, that stands out even more. Middles have to transition every time, and McGill does a nice job getting off the net, resetting, and making herself an option again. She does not need a perfect ball to stay involved. Instead, she adjusts well and still looks to score. Furthermore, she shows good intent with her swings and does a nice job finding open space when the set is less than ideal. That ability to stay poised and productive in broken plays is a big reason she fits here.

Dresden rounds out this week's group as another 2029 attacker worth tracking in transition. She stays involved, works to stay available, and continues moving rather than settling once the rally gets messy. Moreover, she shows good effort in those second-chance moments, which is a huge part of transition success. Young hitters who learn to keep working through extended plays usually make some of the biggest jumps over time. Dresden looks like a player with that kind of upside as she continues to grow.
