Division I, Class A, Regions 3 and 4 Players to See

Region 3 saw the Eagleville Eagles rise up and win the first state championship in program history. They could go back and do it again with the talent they have returning. Last year's state runner-up in the Gordonsville Tigers comes from Region 4.    When big moments arrive, Bain (pictured) comes up clutch. The good news is she does not have to do it by herself playing for a balanced team. Thus, she receives a ton of one-on-ones at the net and draws others away from teammates. She has a nice approach and terminates balls with a great arm swing. She sends balls flying to the ground with a solid downward trajectory. It will be interesting to see how much higher her ceiling goes this fall.     Moore has tremendous ball placement for the Panthers. She takes her time on long sets, watches the blockers then executes nice off shots. Moore can tool blocks and send off shots over double blocks toward side lines away from opponents. Moore is not afraid to rainbow balls to deep corners and makes quick transitions from defense to offense. A good next step for Moore is developing a quicker arm swing and sending balls to different zones. Moore led Sale Creek with 310 kills last year.     Agee brings sound versatility to the Warriors. Agee transitions well from defense to offense then puts across precise cut shots. Agee is not afraid to tip balls to the middle with her off (left) hand or to openings in the corners. Agee executes both bump and overhead passes to get the offensive rhythm going and can drop back to track down balls going to the side lines. She handles redirected balls and only lunges out of necessity. Her ball control could use some work, but that comes with more repetitions.     Looper is very aggressive at the net with her size. Looper does a good job timing up solo blocks and moving her hands to deny balls from coming across the net. Looper watches hitters with keen eyes and tries to take away the strong hits, especially ones. Looper shoves balls to the sides of solo blocks. She has a nice approach to the net and pounds balls to the side lines. She can also tool blocks and reacts quickly to keep plays alive when blocked.     Smith uses her size to control the net well for the Tigers. Smith puts overpassed balls away from opponents and can tool blocks. She takes ones and sends them to different zones on the court. Smith does a great job sending off shots to the back rows. She can even take out of system balls and shove them to shallow side lines. She hits over blockers with ease with her high attack point. A quicker arm swing is a good next step for Smith entering high school. Smith had 123 kills and 32 blocks for the Tigers last fall.
