New Rural Gems to Follow in Nebraska 2029 Rankings

The small-town stars are back at it.   The Class of 2029 has delivered compelling storylines across the Cornhusker State. Nebraska's rural gems have had a large presence in our database since the release of our first watch, and we've added several more names in successive updates. Add another chapter to the narrative.   Our latest crew of small-town additions could be due for a big sophomore surge on the prep stage this fall. Update those watch lists.    Our travels begin in northeast Nebraska. Wakefield High School has brought a few 2029s to our attention, and Riewer is one of the latest to join our player database. She ranked third on the Trojans' scoring ledger last fall and was a persistent force behind the service line, too. Wakefield's youth movement should leave the program with serious gain potential for 2026 and beyond. Riewer's return escalates that optimism.     Underclassmen will have a big say in whether Adams Central repeats last year's postseason breakthrough. Brown joins a host of other Patriots on our 2029 watch list, and she's raring to build off a brilliant club tenure with VCNebraska 15 White. She was among 15 White's physical leaders at the net, providing assertive out-of-system swings when the team needed it most. Brown's ability to excel under pressure became apparent as VCN battled through the Great Plains Region Bid Tournament. Her tenure with Adams Central should sharpen those skills further.     We now venture to south-central Nebraska to find one of Alma's most versatile contributors. Pool did not discriminate when stacking the stat sheet last year. Alma occasionally wielded this freshman as a scoring weapon, but Pool's best moments came while dishing the offense. She amassed over 300 assists across the back row and wielded a calm platform while digging heat in Zone 1. A wealth of returning talent should put Alma on the upswing for this year's fall grind.     We can always count on Wilber-Clatonia to give us a few emergent athletes. Zajicek's multi-sport impact has already been felt in the Wolverines' gym, especially after she dropped a dozen points per game on the basketball court. She was similarly influential in volleyball venues, churning out triple-digit kills along with her numerous contributions in the back row. And, just for good measure, Zajicek showed off her setting prowess with Wilber-Clatonia and commanded the offense with maturity beyond her years. Expect her to be an ever-present force around the dial.     Freshmen had a steady influence in S-E-M's setter camp last fall, and Scoville can lead the Mustangs to their next postseason streak. This dynamic athlete made the most of her reps while splitting time in the starting rotation. These ever-changing circumstances can give us a look at how setters adjust and adapt. Scoville passed that test last fall, and her role will likely expand in 2026. We look forward to seeing this purple-clad squad back in the postseason discussion.     Perrings flexed her exceptional backcourt range while representing Louisville High School last fall. Her best highlights came in the left-back area, where Perrings absorbed crosscourt shots with amazing poise. She could also reliably read tip shots behind the block and deliver clutch transition digs down the line. The result was nearly 200 digs in Year 1 and Perrings' continued club ascent with Club Legacy 15 Bravo. It's a year-round catalog of reps that has Perrings poised for more breakthroughs in our rankings.     Many roads lead to southeast Nebraska, so that's where we'll wrap up our barnstorming tour. Peterson eclipsed the century mark in total kills and digs as a freshman, establishing herself as one of Palmyra's most impactful underclassmen. This agile attacker operates best with a high set that allows Peterson to set up her high, snappy swing. Her angle shots are particularly effective when she's able to carve off hands and exploit the opposing block. That vast toolbox will be tested again soon.
