Right Sides Who Made Their Names at the Katy Cy-Fair Tournament

One of the most competitive and traditional high school volleyball preseason events in the Houston area, the Katy ISD-Cy Fair ISD Tournament took place this past weekend, reuniting 48 varsity teams on six high school campuses in the Katy and Cypress regions between Thursday and Saturday. These right sides showed very good things in their games:    Dobson was with the A&M Consolidated team that earned seven wins and a loss in Katy-Cypress. The senior was very active on the right for them and added to their scoring efforts with her well-rounded offensive game. Dobson was capable of hitting quicker and higher sets and used her quick, skilled right arm to find nice angles and go around the block. She also did a good job of pressing opponents with her block, stretching her long arms to shut them down at the pin.      Cameron and her College Park team returned home with six victories and two losses earned in the event. The senior showed a strong game on the right for them, appearing well both offensively and defensively. Cameron was very reliable with her point-scoring, combining solid firepower and remarkable variation in her swings. She also offered her team a strong blocking presence, reading opponents very well at the pin and playing aggressively above the net.      Browder was part of the College Station team that produced a 6-2 win record over the weekend. Standing at six feet and getting off the floor very well, she was a difficult matchup for opposing blockers, especially when hitting a quick set on the right. A lefty, Browder managed to overpower opposing blockers and defenders on many occasions, but also showed great vision to score off tips. The senior also did well with her blocking, delaying her jumps as much as possible to get in front of opponents above the net.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2026/08/2J4A0063_18fddf.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1018590" /></figure>    Johnson was with the Memorial team that amassed six wins and two losses throughout the weekend. A right side hitter with great size and a very quick and strong offensive approach, the senior was very difficult to stop at the net. Johnson showed excellent decision-making to pick her shots and consistently managed to avoid the block, while also making very few errors. She also contributed defensively with her disciplined and aggressive blocking.      Mukabana was one of the standouts in Clear Creek's campaign of two wins and six losses. She split her time between the right and the middle and used her big and powerful frame to get the job done at the net for them. The senior stood out for her offensive versatility, hitting quicker sets in the middle and higher ones on the pins, and showed some serious firepower when she got to make full contact with the ball in her swings. The senior was very strong with her blocking, too, getting off the floor well and getting in the way of opposing pin hitters.      Wilkes and her Cypress Creek team completed their schedule with two wins and six losses. A true all-around player, the senior contributed a lot on the right, splitting her time between setting and hitting duties with the team. Wilkes' offense was well-diversified and reliable, as she managed to put the ball down at a good rate from both the left and the right, showing good firepower and vision to use tips when needed.
