Semifinal Studs from Queens of the Court (Varsity Division)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The high school girls volleyball season in the Southern Section officially begins in three days, as 38 teams did used the Queens of the Court Tournament from last Sunday and Saturday as a final dress rehearsal. In the varsity division, those teams had to grind it out in a gymnasium that was roughly around 80 degrees.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After it was all said and done, Long Beach Poly was the last team standing for the second straight year, as the won the tournament. But just like last year, day two came nowehere near easy.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The second day saw the Jackrabbits go the distance in the quarterfinals against Foothill, in the semifinals against Beckman and in the finals against Los Osos. The way the Jackrabbits went after every ball defensively, they were putting on a clinic in terms of keeping the ball alive.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For a team like Long Beach Poly, it's hard to pick out who stood out, since the entire team the saw the floor made an impact in any way. She hustled for every ball and even made sure her teammates got the ball to score offensively. Milburns' best match came in the final against Los Osos, where her athletic and jumping ability was on full display. Against Long Beach Poly in the final, she put down a roll shot kill when her team was facing match point in set two and with the set tied at 24-24, Jacks stepped up to the service to help her team force a third set. Just like Jacks, Taylor's serving was quite steady. Whenever the ball was about to drop on her team's side, Meza swiftly sprawled over to it to keep it alive.
