South Lyon East’s ‘Sort It Out’ Tournament Preview

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It's early in the 2026 prep season, but this Saturday features an event with one of the best collections of teams you will see all year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>South Lyon East High School will host its “Sort It Out” Tournament this weekend, a unique format that includes nine great teams from around the state.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The participating teams are:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Clarkston</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --> <!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Grand Rapids Christian</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --> <!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Lowell</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --> <!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Marian</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --> <!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Mercy</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --> <!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Rockford</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --> <!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Romeo</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --> <!-- wp:list-item --> <li>South Lyon East</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --> <!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Utica Eisenhower</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The format for the event is that these nine teams will be randomly drawn into three, three-team pools. Those pools will play out and then another set of three, three-team pools will be redrawn based on the initial pool results, giving each team four matches against four different opponents.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The four teams with the best records following the two pool rounds will then play in a single-elimination bracket to determine a champion.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is a stacked field with eight of the nine teams currently ranked or Honorable Mention in the MIVCA rankings.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!--
