Getting all of the next generation of student athletes in one gym, balling out next to one another is quite the feat. This year at the Michigan Freshman Showcase was no different. If anything, this may have been the best one yet.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>From national champions, to emerging talents, and to the names we need to keep an eye on for in a few years. This class is another uber talented one out of the Mitten state.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Now, this is where it all begins. Bad first contact and its all down hill. Not with these players though, this is another talented pool of defensive specialist and liberos. One of the most underrated positions on the court, but we see you 'bros. Let's take a look at the best defender and receivers in the 2030 class from Michigan!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1002631' first='Melani' last='Gjorovski'] - Regina/Michigan Elite</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Regina has become quite accustomed to having a very solid, stud libero these last few years. Look no further at their next one incoming with [player_tooltip player_id='1002631' first='Melani' last='Gjorovski']. This is an athlete that you want in the libero jersey. A poised, calm disposition that can settle even the loudest of blows. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='959855' first='Grace' last='Ullrich'] - Marian/Michigan Elite</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>She may be small, but [player_tooltip player_id='959855' first='Grace' last='Ullrich'] is quite the mighty player. She's loud, aggressive and shows no mercy in her body to better the ball and keep the game alive. Ullrich is a kind of libero that can frustrate the heck out of her opponents. She is simply everywhere and anywhere all at once. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1007260' first='Skylar' last='Stephens'] - Portage Central/FaR Out</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It's very early to say, but this may be the libero of the class. [player_tooltip player_id='1007260' first='Skylar' last='Stephens'] just has it all. From her serce reception to her defense but also her out of system ball, it is all just right on the money. Stephens has such an eye for the game, that it almost seems to be she's a step ahead of her comp at all times. This is a welcomed sight for a Portage Central program that has veteran weapons in MB [player_tooltip player_id='490373' first='Kate' last='Colosky'] and S [player_tooltip player_id='782946' first='Catie' last='Jilek']. Stephens completes what will surely be the big 3 in D1 this fall.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='949918' first='Mikayla' last='Sinadinoski'] - Dakota/Legacy</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Coming into your prep career as storied as this one's is quite a feat. [player_tooltip player_id='949918' first='Mikayla' last='Sinadinoski'] comes in with multiple national titles under her belt and a whole lot of winning experience to bring back to the Dakota gym. Sinadinoski is another player in the off colored jersey that has the cheat code. She knows what her opponents are bringing to her before they even do. This heightened sense of IQ and vision is going to give Sinadinoski the opportunity to make a quick transition to the high school game and find herself thrive quickly.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1008391' first='Brooklyn' last='Barriger'] - Lowell/FaR Out</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1008391' first='Brooklyn' last='Barriger'] is listed as a DS/L, but please do not be fooled. This kid can hit the snot out of the ball harder than any one else in the gym. This player reminds me so much of Richmond's [player_tooltip player_id='454366' first='Jordyn' last='Jones']. A player small in stature but plays bigger than the rest. Barriger is one of what seems to be an army of incoming freshman to Lowell's gym and they're all a welcomed addition. No matter where we find Barriger out on the court this season, just know she is going to find a way to win!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='961829' first='Alison' last='Graff'] - Marian/Michigan Elite</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This another DS/L that could very easily mold into other roles onto the court. [player_tooltip player_id='961829' first='Alison' last='Graff'] is a lengthy presence in the back court, closing in on the 5'8/5'9 mark, Graff is able to use her length to get a hold of some balls that others may struggle with.
