The hitter who changes her shot because the seam disappeared usually doesn't.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A good blocker is influencing more swings than the ones she stuffs. Young middles often chase the ball after the decision is already obvious. The progression for Alexis will be learning to read earlier so her feet can do less work. On the right, she can spend more time studying the outside hitter directly in front of her. The biggest growth area for a young blocker is often learning to arrive square instead of reaching sideways after the hitter. She has to show as an offensive threat even when the setter isn't choosing her, then immediately shift into reading the opponent's offense. She isn't treating the block as the end of the play. The important next step after any blocking move is landing under control, turning off the net and becoming available in transition.
