Division 2 Power Rankings for Sept. 16

<p>The 2026 prep season is about a month old, so it's a good time to start looking at which teams are making the biggest impact thus far.</p>   <p>In Division 2, the top teams are creating a little distance from the field, but there's a lot of teams that are in the mix for a top-10 spot.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>1. Grand Rapids Christian</strong></h2>   <p>The Eagles can make the claim of being the top team in the state with wins over top D1 teams like Mercy and Marian. GRC has plenty of talent along the net in <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='442982' first='Grace' last='Goodyke']</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='881552' first='Mya' last='McKinnon']</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='490372' first='Piper' last='Cebulski']</strong>.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>2. Grand Rapids South Christian</strong></h2>   <p>The Sailors have only fallen to GRC and top D1 programs, but did take a set from the Eagles, so their potential is high. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='761443' first='Meg' last='Schreur']</strong> is playing lights out at libero, while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='808235' first='Joysan' last='Funk'] </strong>is putting the ball away at a high rate.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>3. Detroit Country Day</strong></h2>   <p>The 2-time defending state champions are getting accustomed to some new outsides, but are going to get better and better each week. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='574175' first='Payton' last='Woodruff']</strong> is going to get the best out of the new pin hitters, like she does out of her power middles <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='450415' first='Leah' last='Green'] </strong>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='947938' first='Aliyah' last='Potapenko']</strong>.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>4. Edwardsburg</strong></h2>   <p>The Eddies really impressed me in Caledonia this past weekend, nearly winning the whole event that featured some of the top teams in Division 1. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='825043' first='Ella' last='Laskowski']</strong> is a contender for D2 Player of the Year if she can help Edwardsburg make a deep run in the playoffs.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>5. Marshall</strong></h2>   <p>The Redhawks are going to always be in the mix with <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='776808' first='Brynn' last='Johnson']</strong> on the court. She's continuing her dominant play this fall, while junior setter <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1021916' first='Addie' last='Carden']</strong> keeps improving along the way.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>6. Parma Western</strong></h2>   <p>The Panthers have a high ceiling for where they can go. They have a lot of offensive depth, led by <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='741882' first='Georgia' last='Addleman']</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='831699' first='Ella' last='Wilcox']</strong>, who both can put the ball way with a lot of intensity. This is a dynamic offense that will be challenging for opponents to slow down.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>7. Macomb Lutheran North</strong></h2>   <p>The Mustangs are racking up the wins early in 2026, but the key will be to put wins together come October and November. Senior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='920480' first='Victoria' last='Burnham']</strong> has been a big strength at libero, providing great leadership.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>8. Frankenmuth</strong></h2>   <p>The Eagles are dangerous because they can beat you in a variety of ways. They have a lot of players that are capable of putting the ball away, while playing at a high rate with their first contact.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>9. Kingsley</strong></h2>   <p>The Stags are the 2025 D3 champion and now move up into D2. So far, they look like a team that will be able to hold their own against the top teams in Division 2. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='833201' first='Jenna' last='Middleton'] </strong>recently got her 2,000<sup>th</sup> career kill and she remains one of the best hitters in the division.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>10. North Branch</strong></h2>   <p>The Broncos are always going to be right in the mix in D2 and this year looks to be no different. Sophomore <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='888384' first='Allysse' last='Deshetsky']</strong> is leading a young offense, which features sophomore <strong>Sydney Bailey</strong> and freshman <strong>Kyleigh Wightman.</strong></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Next Team In: Flat Rock</strong></h2>   <p>The 2025 state finalist is not going to go away without a fight.</p>
