Nebraska's Surprise Sophomores Poised to Climb 2029 Rankings

Narratives have quickly been rewritten.   We don't have to look far back in time to find the last overhaul of our Nebraska rankings. That late-summer gap between the high school and club seasons is a perfect time to refresh our lists, and our last update was especially big for the 2029s. We released our first Top 50 for this group, but we knew this was just an initial step in a long journey.   That journey is already taking unexpected turns as we log more data during the ongoing high school season. Several high-impact sophomores are enjoying a roaring start to the 2029 campaign, making their case shake up our rankings further. Some are already in the Top 50, while others are poised to ascend from the watch list.   Whatever the case, these Nebraska 2029s are making stark September strides.    How far can Hinton climb? She's already on the cusp of our Top 10 after her stellar debut season with Adams Central. That freshman campaign ended in the state tournament, and Hinton racked up even more postseason experience with her South Central NE 15 Black club squad. However, this explosive outside hitter has already raised the bar further in Year 2 with the Patriots. She eclipsed 100 total kills after only 22 sets played this year. Hinton's 27 terminations in a five-set battle with Kearney Catholic provided yet another example of how her rocket arm and high contact point can lift a squad through grueling matches. That's an omen for more tournament success.     As we look for watch list athletes worthy of joining the rankings, this one is a no-brainer. Bash captured our attention this spring after providing a steady hammer for [program_tooltip program_id='428728' first='River' last='City Jrs'] 15 Red's offense. This Omaha Mercy sophomore can get the job done on either pin, and her ball control took a huge step forward en route to AAU Nationals glory. Bash is back to business with the Monarchs, averaging nearly four kills per set through the first handful of contests. The Omaha metro is wielding its deepest prep talent pool in a long time.     Bruck's hard-hitting style was a big spring storyline when she competed with Premier Nebraska 15 Black. She showed a knack for firing away on the 'gap' play and was a stout pin-to-pin blocker through USAV Nationals. Bruck brings that same persistence to the Blair frontcourt, where she has compiled an impressive blocking total in addition to hitting nearly 0.300 for the Bears. Class B already has plenty of firepower, but Bruck's upward trend adds to the fun.     We expected Dahlhauser to play an important role in the Millard West operation, but she has managed to surprise us anyway. She has developed into the prototypical 'M1' that has become a staple of Wildcat success. Dahlhauser poses a physical block, has outstanding length, and can wield a wicked serve when she rotates to the end line. All of these traits flourished when she helped Club Legacy 15 Alpha clinch a GJNC spot, and now she's due for a spot in our rankings.     How about another one from the Club Legacy crew? Bolden joined Dahlhauser for all the stellar moments in 15 Alpha's 2026 campaign. We already had this savvy setter on our 2029 radar after she dished out over ten assists per set as a first-year starter. Bolden has replicated that output in Year 2 while propelling the Cavaliers to the top of the Class C1 leaderboard. Bishop Neumann's unblemished start has reintroduced us to Bolden's exceptional leadership and knack for making everyone around her better.     Nebraska's 2029 setters clearly have our attention. Like Bolden, Byrd entered the 2026 season with plenty of starting experience from her freshman days. That experience has culminated in a quick start to this fall's grind, with Elkhorn earning big wins over Yutan, Wahoo, and Battle Creek, among others. Byrd's commanding presence at the setter spot has been a constant throughout. She isn't afraid to get physical at the net and square up with the high-flying attackers that permeate Class B.     Kluver will face no shortage of powerful offenses while locking down the end line for Norfolk. This Nebraska Elite standout has already made her rankings debut, but she might climb further after posting staggering early-season numbers this fall. She had an unbelievable 40-dig performance in the season opener against Lincoln Southeast, and that was just the beginning of Kluver's stat-stuffing campaign. Nebraska's sophomore leaderboard will have a permanent spot for this ultra-productive libero.     Perhaps you've heard about Aurora's massive resurgence in the central Nebraska prep scene. We've highlighted the Huskies' star-studded cast from the Class of 2028, but don't overlook the 2029s, either. Chamness leads this group with her unique brand of six-rotation volleyball. She's a springy pin hitter in the VCNebraska gym, but Chamness dons the libero jersey for Aurora and packs the highlight tape from the back row. Her team-leading dig total is only part of what makes her a fascinating prospect in the sophomore class.
