Right Sides Who Made an Impact at Houston Open

The Texas high school volleyball season continues to progress at full pace, and while most of the eyes are turned to the teams competing in the public tournament organized by the University Interscholastic League (UIL), there's a ton of talent spread among the many programs linked with private schools in the Lone Star State as well.   A couple of weeks ago, Prep Dig Texas got to witness it firsthand as we attended the Houston Open 2026, a traditional tournament held at the [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] facility that reunites most of the top private high school programs from the region for two days of action.   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><a href="https://prepdig.com/2026/08/houston-open-2026-photos/">Houston Open 2026 - Photos</a></li> </ul>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://www.instagram.com/p/DcUv-Z_juZB/?img_index=1 </div></figure>   We recognized talent in many of the participating teams and will this week feature the players who delivered strong performances at the event. These were the most productive right sides to get on the court:    Maimone and her John Cooper team ended the event undefeated with five victories. Using her height and her leaping ability to her advantage, the sophomore was very effective for them at the pin. Maimone demostrated solid firepower to put the ball down, but was also very accurate with her swings, and managed to score points at a good rate in out-of-system plays. She also showed nice versatility at the net, hitting efficiently from the left and the middle.      Parker was with the FBCHA team that secured four wins and a loss over the weekend. Capable of playing anyhwere at the net, she was mostly used on the right and contributed on both sides of the ball at the net. The senior made a strong impact with her blocking, going up very high at the net and playing aggressively to get in the way of opposing hitters. Parker was also a reliable scorer for her team, showing good power to put the ball down, but mainly making the most of her vision to find great locations for her swings.     Goodwin helped Providence Classical produce a positive record of three wins and two losses. Originally an outside hitter, the senior spent some time playing on the right during the weekend and made a positive impact in her team's play with her strong all-around game. Goodwin did very well when swinging on the right, getting off the floor very well and using her firepower and accuracy to beat blockers and defenders. She also stepped up to be part of the team's serve-receive system, freeing up one of the outside hitters from passing duties when she was on the court.      Johnson and her St. Joseph Catholic side had a win and four losses over the two days of action. The sophomore was a key piece in the team, providing solid contributions at the net and on the back row. A lefty with good lenght and slid offensive range, Johnson was very efficient at the net, hitting from the right and the left and making an impact with her blocking, too. A freshman, she showed a very promising game, combining solid physical and technical tools. A lefty, Bailey has good lenght and makes contact with the ball at a very high point when going for swings at the net.
