Running the Offense: Setters to Watch on Day 2 at DFC

Setters will have a major hand in how Nevada teams perform at the Durango Fall Classic, especially against the size and speed of the national field. This group includes experienced seniors, rising underclassmen and several versatile athletes who can contribute beyond just running an offense. Their decision-making, consistency and ability to keep hitters involved will be worth watching throughout the weekend.    Moore brings a lot of versatility to the Desert Oasis lineup, contributing as both a setter and attacker. Her 216 assists show how much responsibility she carries in running the offense, while her .282 hitting efficiency and 17 aces show she can create points herself whether dumping or serving. That ability to impact multiple phases makes her an interesting player to follow throughout the weekend.     Cope has been an important part of Palo Verde's offense with 156 assists this season. She also contributes at the net, posting a .231 hitting efficiency and eight blocks. Her ability to do more than simply distribute the ball gives the Panthers added flexibility in their offense.     Sneek, reigning state champion, has continues thriving in her rolee for Sierra Vista as just a sophomore, recording 230 assists. She is responsible for keeping the Mountain Lions' offense balanced and getting their hitters into good situations. Durango will give her an opportunity to continue developing against some of the strongest competition she has seen this season.     Remington brings valuable experience to Bishop Manogue as both a setter and defensive player. She averaged 3.8 assists per set in reported action last season and returns as one of the Miners' veteran ball handlers. Her ability to contribute in more than one role gives Manogue options throughout a long tournament weekend.     Manibusan has been at the center of Arbor View's offense with 224 assists this season. Her job will be especially important at Durango, where the Aggies will need consistent location and decision-making against stronger blocks. A steady setter can make a major difference in tournament play, and Manibusan gives Arbor View that senior presence.     Sterrett gives Bishop Manogue versatility with the ability to contribute as both a setter and an opposite. That flexibility can help the Miners adjust their lineup depending on matchups throughout pool play. Her size and ability to play multiple roles make her another junior worth watching this weekend.
