Rocky Mountain Radar: Uncommitted Class of 2028s to Watch

<p>The Class of 2028 continues to give us plenty of names to follow.</p>   <p>As the high school season gets rolling, there are still plenty of athletes who have time to continue building their games and finding the right next step. Being uncommitted also means there is still plenty of opportunity ahead.</p>   <p>This group brings a little bit of everything. We have defensive specialists, versatile front-row players, a physical middle, a left-handed pin, and a setter who continues to show why she can be trusted to run an offense.</p>   <p>Let's take a look at five uncommitted Class of 2028 athletes who are on our Rocky Mountain Radar.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='792611' first='Brooke' last='Wildhagen']</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Wildhagen brings a steady presence to the back row and has a knack for making herself available wherever the ball goes. She covers a lot of court, especially in serve receive, and her speed allows her to adjust when the first contact is not exactly where she wants it. One of the things that stands out is her ability to stay composed through longer rallies. Wildhagen can handle a difficult ball without letting the play completely fall apart, which gives her team another opportunity to build the offense. She also has a good understanding of where she needs to be before the ball crosses the net. That combination of movement and ball control gives Wildhagen plenty of value as a DS/L. She is the type of back-row player who can help stabilize a lineup while continuing to find ways to make an impact.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='943060' first='McKenzie' last='Moore']</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Moore brings plenty of versatility to the front row. She has experience at both middle and right side, and that flexibility allows her to contribute in different ways depending on what her team needs. Her athleticism is one of the first things that catches your attention. Moore moves quickly into her attack and does a nice job staying available, even when the pass forces the offense to adjust. She is not waiting around for the perfect ball. Instead, she continues working to find a way into the play. Additionally, Moore has shown that she can be productive when she gets her opportunities. Her ability to move between positions while staying aggressive makes her an interesting player to continue tracking in this class.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='532762' first='Addison' last='Jones']</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Jones has already made plenty of noise at the net this season. The Class of 2028 middle has recorded 48 blocks, and counting! Her athleticism is a big part of that production. Jones moves well across the net and can close space quickly, which allows her to get into position against different attacking options. Her physical tools give her another advantage. Jones can take up space at the net, but she also has the movement to make adjustments instead of simply relying on her size. That combination can make her difficult for opposing hitters to navigate. As Jones continues to gain experience, it will be interesting to see how much more she can add to her blocking and attacking game. She already has the athletic foundation to make an impact at the net, and there is plenty of room for that game to keep developing.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='845347' first='Chandler' last='Lynott']</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Lynott gives opposing defenses a different look as a left-handed outside hitter. Her arm strength allows her to put plenty of pace on the ball, and she can create offense from either pin. More importantly, Lynott has continued to add variety to the way she attacks. She can work around a block, find open court, or take an aggressive swing when the opportunity is there. She also stays involved when the ball is moving to the other side of the net. Lynott competes at the block and continues to work defensively, giving her more opportunities to impact the rally beyond her offensive swings. The more we see from Lynott, the more pieces continue to stand out. She has already developed a strong offensive foundation, and her continued growth makes her a player worth following throughout the season.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='532649' first='Anjalena' last='Almanza']</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Almanza brings a steady hand to the setter position and continues to show a strong understanding of how to run an offense. She does a nice job keeping her hitters involved and adjusting her decisions based on what the defense is giving her. When the offense is in system, Almanza can create a good rhythm for her attackers. When things break down, she stays composed and finds another option. Her communication also stands out. A setter has to keep the entire offense connected, and Almanza does a nice job helping her hitters stay involved throughout the match. She understands that good setting is about more than simply putting the ball in the right spot.
