With a handful of matches already started in the larger sectionals, there are plenty of 3A teams and players to watch this October. Here are five freshmen from around class 3A that look to move their respective squads on through the sectional.

Mallory is a heavy-hitting hybrid attacker that is fully capable of carrying the Patriots to a deep post season run this fall. High and hard is her motto, and she has shown that the young cast around her is more than ready for their closeup this playoff cycle.

With all of the skills of a primary passing outside hitter, Lydia is a strong, smart and highly-skilled pin attacker with all of the shots in the book and the vision to vary those shots depending on what the opposing defense gives her. Her whip of an arm swing is faster than a lot of attackers older than her, and she's got the volleyball acuity to score points in any situation.

Ella's donned the libero jersey with pride and, from the beginning of the season, has shown that she's more than just an active defender. Able to receive serve in half the court at any one time and next to any passer, Ella is averaging over six digs per set while being the primary reason for Bishop Noll staying in system throughout this season.

Quick-footed and sure-handed, Emie is part of a very effective 6-2 that the Braves run. With the first-round win last night, we'll be blessed by more solid quarterbacking and accurate locations of Miss Krull's sets to the Brave offense. Her defense is also solid—-defensive-minded setters aren't as popular in Indiana as the surrounding states. Emie has a lot to offer any college looking for a multi-skilled volleyball player.

Another year, another West Lafayette-area volleyballer showing what a well-rounded skill set looks like. Meredith is THE main cog of the Red Devil offense that is very senior heavy. With her hands in multiple areas of skill—-from attacking to defending—-Miss Andrew will be seen as a solid outside hitting prospect for years to come.
