Regional pairings have officially come out and we now know where every team in class 4A is headed. The way regionals in volleyball are decided is based mainly off rankings. Rankings are based on head coaches of each program voting. The top 8 teams get to host a regional tournament. Then seeds 9-16 are placed as such, 1-16, 2-15, 3-14...etc. From there, OSSAA does their best to keep the pattern going all the way to 32 but they do try to account for geography to help make some logical switches. Once the 8 regional tournaments are set, they play a single elimination style tournament amongst the four teams and whoever is the champ of each regional, they move onto the state tournament. Where those 8 coaches will rerank and they seed state based off that. Let's take a look at regions 5-8, the teams in them and players to watch.

Regional #5

Host: Metro Christian

Teams: #12 North Rock Creek, Berryhill, McLain.

Metro has played a very difficult schedule this season but it will prepare them well for this time of year. They are one of the toughest serving teams I have seen this year. If they are on from the service line, opposing teams are in for a long night. NRC took Metro to 3 earlier in the year at the Port City tournament. We could see a very interesting region unfold here.

Players to Watch: [player_tooltip player_id='842469' first='Emily' last='Bridgeford'] and Caroline Collins are both big time playmakers for Metro. Carly McCaslin puts up a strong block for NRC. If Emery Goodin can catch fire, NRC is a tough matchup.

Regional #6

Host: Oologah

Teams: #11 Inola, Catoosa, and Stillwell.

The Mustangs have had one of their best seasons in recent school history. They are a team that likes to go up tempo on offense and serve receives well. Inola is playing well down the back stretch though. These two played each other right out the gate, where Oologah swept the Longhorns at home.

Players to Watch:

[player_tooltip player_id='933710' first='Halle' last='Barron'], [player_tooltip player_id='839897' first='Abighail' last='Kelley'], and [player_tooltip player_id='904414' first='Olivia' last='Thomason'] have all showed moments of brilliance this season in front row for Oologah. The Longhorns have youn gun [player_tooltip player_id='933575' first='Zoey' last='Hadley'] who is their go to player when they need a big kill.

Regional #7

Host: Weatherford

Teams: #10 Bethany, Cache, and Clinton.

The pride of far western Oklahoma, the Weatherford Eagles are having another awesome year. They have won 13 of the last 15 matches, including wins like Newcastle, Tuttle and El Reno. However, one of those two losses in that time frame was to Bethany. Will we see a rare upset on the road?

Players to Watch:

[player_tooltip player_id='1012875' first='Karsyn' last='Klaassen'] is an absolute handful to deal with. She really showed how talented she was at the Claremore Super Scrimmage this summer. Olivia Roper really helps balance out the offense for the Eagles. Don't sleep on Bethany, they have loads of recent success in regional tournaments. Hannah Bergman and Emma Sailer are players to watch for the Bronchos.

Regional #8

Host: Tuttle

Teams: #9 Holland Hall, Chickasha, and John Marshall.

The Tuttle Tigers are on a 6 game win streak, including winning the championship at their home tournament. Both HH and Tuttle have 20+ on the season. This will be a very tough regional final matchup.

Players to Watch: Taryn Flanary, Graysen Buck, and Avery Chastian all add value in a variety of ways for the Tigers. They can really catch first from the service line and in the front row. [player_tooltip player_id='741366' first='Addison' last='Hendren'] and transfer [player_tooltip player_id='966547' first='Kinlei' last='Willis'] are major pieces for Holland Hall.

With playoffs here, we wish everyone safe travels and best of luck at regionals.
