Addison can carry a significant attacking load without playing as if every swing has to be spectacular. She doesn't need to speed up simply because the rally before it was chaotic. She can reset the offense, get to the ball and give the next hitter something familiar. London can move from first contact into approach work quickly, handle a broken sequence without looking uncomfortable and communicate through rallies that stop following the original plan. Walton Survives Two 27-25 Sets

Walton's title defense is still alive.

The defending Class 6A champion went on the road and beat Archer 3-1 in Saturday's Class 7A quarterfinal. The first two sets both went 27-25 before Archer took the third and Walton responded 25-21 in the fourth. The Raiders now get North Forsyth in a rematch of last year's semifinal.

Matches like that expose something different than comfortable sweeps. Extended sets force players to execute after multiple opportunities to finish have already come and gone. That's where technical skill and emotional control start overlapping.

Scarlett's blocking has already translated on the biggest stage. She finished last year's championship match with six blocks, and the same net discipline remains an important part of Walton's identity.

What I like most is that Scarlett doesn't block like she's chasing a statistic. Her job is to control space. Walton didn't need Saturday to look perfect.

It needed enough players capable of solving imperfect moments.

Addison gives the Raiders responsible attacking volume. Kylie controls the pace of the offense. Scarlett changes space at the net, Jasmine protects the first contact and London brings utility when the rally stops being clean.

That's a useful group to have when the next opponent is already very familiar.
