That's important. Strong postseason blocks punish attackers who only have one speed, and the ability to change the shape of a swing matters just as much as arm strength.

I also like the patience she shows as a pin. An outside may go several rallies without seeing an ideal ball and then suddenly be asked to solve a high set against two blockers. Riley has the length to create good contact points, but her next-level value comes from what she does with those contacts — seeing the block, staying high and giving herself more than one scoring option. ~ S.Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga

Amara looks comfortable carrying responsibility. That's a trait I pay attention to late in the year. Some hitters look different when everyone in the gym knows the next ball may be coming to them; Amara has enough experience that the attention doesn't seem to change the way she approaches the swing.

Her game is also built for longer rallies. She can defend, reset and still become available to attack again. That ability to remain mentally connected through several contacts is exactly what becomes more valuable when playoff points stop ending quickly. ~ S.Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga

Kari plays with the confidence of a hitter who expects to receive important balls. Opponents can't assume she'll spend the entire night attacking one matchup from one location. The postseason has a way of exposing outside hitters.

Clean swings become less common. Opponents have more film. Blocks get better organized, and the high ball that was open in August suddenly has two disciplined defenders waiting for it.

That is why I like looking beyond who simply scores the most. The pins who become especially valuable in October are the ones who can solve imperfect situations, stay useful through the back row and keep asking for the ball even after an opponent has made an adjustment.

These five bring different versions of that playoff-ready game.

October doesn't necessarily belong to the hitter with the hardest swing.

It often belongs to the one who has the most answers.

Henley brings six-rotation rhythm, Riley combines physicality with patience, Jayda gives North Forsyth positional flexibility, Kari continues learning how to solve organized defenses and Amara gives Cartersville veteran stability at the pin.

Those are the types of games that tend to travel well once every opponent has film.
