These five are looking to pick up their roles to help the respective teams make nice postseason runs.

Steih (pictured) takes advantage of superb setting to get up before blocks form. She has nice four-step attack approaches, gets on top of balls and pounds them into holes in double blocks and seams. Steih does a great job not rushing her shots. She puts over solid crosses and line shots on go routes with a nice downward trajectory to make it tough for even solid defensive specialists to dig up. Steih takes quality out of system swings and tools blocks. Steih can even rainbow balls to deep corners.

Eckert terminates balls different ways using her size and athleticism. She tips balls to open four zones and can adjust in mid-air to put balls into the back row with good control. She has a nice vertical jump to get up and place balls away from opponents. Eckert also a nice attack approach to shove balls to shallow three zones.

Moss is so effective she will create space for her teammates. Moss executes quicks before solid blocker rise up and mixes in nice tips over blockers. Moss uses her quick arm swing and sound vertical jump to execute other swings. She takes full advantage of having a setter with great size and touch.

Mark commands the net in more ways than one for the Lions. Mark goes up with a strong five-step approach and attacks seams with precision. Mark deposits ones to different zones all over the court, including ones to shallow zones. Mark tools blocks and puts overpassed balls down with authority. Mark calls for the ball in big moments and tools blocks. Mark executes great line shots and crosses on slides.

Mikels is one of two setters that's played an intricate role in another successful season for the Fighting Irish. She is a hustler on the court and does a nice job involving a number of hitters. Mikels has developed a nice connection with the hitters, allowing them to put solid down balls across the net.

Note from Writer

Mike Graham has been writing for Prep Dig for two and a half years and has enjoyed getting to know the volleyball scenes in Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee.
