It was the place to be for any top ranked team from all corners and all divisions in the state.

There were NO easy games here. From the very start to the very end, you had to bring your A game or learn the hard way. These athletes were all game changers in their respective teams' success. All of which led the way to gold bracket finishes, and even further.

With a 16 team field, we are breaking down the golden girls of the Beast of the East by position. On the next round, we're looking at the middle blockers. They're the first line of defense at the net and the quickest way to score a point. For this list, we have quite the eclectic group with your standard middles as well as middles wearing multiple hats for their teams. Let's talk about these golden girls in the middle.

Check out the OTHER Golden Girls at Beast of the East, Liberos - Setters - Middle Blockers - Outside Hitters!

[player_tooltip player_id='939678' first='Molly' last='Briggs'] - Rockford

When the Rams can find this Western Michigan bound athlete in the middle, things only go their way. [player_tooltip player_id='939678' first='Molly' last='Briggs'] is a major presence at the net. From a blocking standpoint, she is a stout task to overcome and when she can get fed the ball, it is almost always scoring.

[player_tooltip player_id='977222' first='Reegan' last='Klinski'] - Frankenmuth

Seeing Frankenmuth ascend through the rankings and have a stellar outing at Beast of the East is a large part due to [player_tooltip player_id='977222' first='Reegan' last='Klinski'] in the middle. This is one of those dynamic attackers that can find the floor in a variety of ways. Mostly seen hitting in front of the setter, Klinski brings a lot of angles with a lot of pace.

[player_tooltip player_id='891341' first='Layla' last='Ljajcaj'] - Romeo

She is one of those middles that were quite a bit of everything on Saturday. [player_tooltip player_id='891341' first='Layla' last='Ljajcaj'] is a phenom for Romeo and somewhat of an X Factor. Her ability to interchange roles on the court with a senseless transition is clutch. Ljajcaj can dominate in the middle as well as muscle in some marquee kills on the pins.

[player_tooltip player_id='490033' first='Christina' last='Rosenow']

[player_tooltip player_id='490033' first='Christina' last='Rosenow'] - Romeo

Get you a middle squad like Romeo's, because they really be doing everything. [player_tooltip player_id='490033' first='Christina' last='Rosenow'] is up next. This one was a tough one to label, too. Do we consider her a setter or middle as her main position? She does both SO WELL. Rosenow is an unsung hero for the Bulldogs as she is stepped into an unlikely role and has her team thriving. Behind Rosenow's game play at the net and running the court was key in some major upset wins.

[player_tooltip player_id='965235' first='Alexis' last='Bray'] - Romeo

And let's round out the middle group from Romeo, we couldn't leave [player_tooltip player_id='965235' first='Alexis' last='Bray'] off. This is another player that is playing out of position and doing incredible work. Traditionally, Bray has spent the bulk of her young career as an outside hitter. This season, she is in the middle. Needless to say, you'd never know Bray never played middle before. Her block moves are precise and timely and she can be put on quite the pop on the ball when given the opportunity.

[player_tooltip player_id='827359' first='Megan' last='Glass'] - Hudsonville

If we're looking for one of the most dominating middles in Michigan right now, you'd have to look no further than [player_tooltip player_id='827359' first='Megan' last='Glass']. This middle makes so much of an impact for her team. Hudsonville can be untouchable at times against opponents and it all relies upon whether or not they can get the ball to Glass. She's one of the most efficient attackers in the field and can throw up a MEAN block in the middle.

[player_tooltip player_id='586777' first='Nemiah' last='Carper']

[player_tooltip player_id='586777' first='Nemiah' last='Carper'] - Roscommon

[player_tooltip player_id='586777' first='Nemiah' last='Carper'] completes the trifecta of attackers on the court for Roscommon. And that trifecta is a huge reason for Roscommon's big day at Beast of the East. In the middle, Carper is as athletic and dynamic as you can find them. She is great off of two feet in front and behind the setter. Carper was holding up extremely well against the field's heavy hitters.

[player_tooltip player_id='908353' first='Kenna' last='Deters'] - Byron Center

I would say, right up there with Glass, [player_tooltip player_id='908353' first='Kenna' last='Deters'] is one of the best and most impactful middles in the state right now. For Byron Center, they look to this one to grip and rip the ball to take down the opps. Watching Deters closely in her and the dogs' run to a championship winning performance, you have to really appreciate her jump in play from a season ago. Deters is FLYING higher than ever before and her arm is as dominating as you have ever seen it.

[player_tooltip player_id='881403' first='Abigail' last='Dafforn'] - South Lyon

Last, but certainly not least, [player_tooltip player_id='881403' first='Abigail' last='Dafforn'] had quite the outing at this tournament. South Lyon had a hard-earned berth into the gold bracket and a lot of that had to do with Dafforn's play at the net. While a steady attacker, Dafforn is a frustrating blocker. It only got better against the tougher competition too. Looking at South Lyon's earlier match with Grand Rapids Christian, the top ranked team in the state, that is where you saw Dafforn's star shine brightest.

-

https://www.tiktok.com/@lshotvb/video/7698885011269012766?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7621309005139035661
