TX Halloween Horror Stories – Scary Smart Setters

She has worked through 133 sets and piled up 1,061 assists. She was playing junior varsity a year ago, which makes her climb up this list one of the best stories of the season. That kind of workload is impressive for a 5'6" junior in her first full varsity season. Her serve is a real weapon and she had six aces to go with 17 assists in a win over the San Antonio Patriots. She also stays engaged on defense. Against Episcopal she had 35 assists and nine digs in a hard fought loss. She gets under the ball quickly and delivers a hittable set even when the pass pulls her off the net. Programs that value a setter with a high motor and plenty of room to grow should keep an eye on her. That all around game is why she sits fifth among Texas juniors with 1,048 assists. She is listed at setter and outside hitter, so she brings a real attacking threat from the front row. She is also tough at the net and had three blocks in a match against Leon. Her best setting nights came in district play with 41 assists against both Somerville and Mumford. She is a strong server who has put together multiple five ace nights this fall. She has helped Burton reach 30 wins and clinch at least a share of the District 25-2A title. Her ability to run the offense while defending and attacking makes her one of the most versatile juniors in the state. She finished with 36 assists and a solo block as the Rams rallied to win the final three sets. That poise has been there all season. She has 967 assists through 109 sets at 8.9 per set. At 5'9" she also plays right side, and her height lets her set from a high release point and get her hitters the ball quickly. She is a threat to score on her own and added five kills to go with 39 assists and 12 digs in a win over Cinco Ranch. Her serve keeps opponents off balance too. She led her team with four aces in a win over Katy Taylor while adding 31 assists and 10 digs. She is a steady junior who has proven she can run an offense in tight matches.
