Missouri's Uncommitted 2027s: Seniors Making Their Move

There are still uncommitted members of Missouri's 2027 class out there, and several have raised their stock considerably with strong performances during the first half of their final high school season. Whether they are approaching career milestones, putting up big numbers, or showing they can compete at the next level, these seniors deserve a closer look.

Here are eight players who have caught my attention. If you're a 2027 senior who hasn't committed to a college yet, send me a note! I'd love to check you out and see what you can bring to a college program.

[player_tooltip player_id='694190' first='Avery' last='Henson'] — Blue Springs South — RS/Setter

When I started working on this article on October 1, Henson was still uncommitted. As I returned to it on October 14, she had made her decision, committing to Lewis & Clark College. She's officially off the board, and Lewis & Clark is getting a good one.

Henson has been nothing short of amazing for Blue Springs South this season. My familiarity with her had primarily been as a setter who could also score from the position. This fall, however, she has been terminating at a high rate from both the pin and the back row, closing in on 400 kills for the season. Her versatility and ability to impact the game in multiple ways have made her one of the more intriguing players to watch in the 2027 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='499154' first='Maddy' last='Collignon'] — St. Pius X (KC) — Setter

Collignon recently broke St. Pius X's career assists record and continues to add to that total. With more than 700 assists this season, she has played a major role in leading the Warriors through another strong campaign.

She's a player who is more than capable of competing at the next level and could be a good addition to a college program looking for a setter. She has good hands, makes sound decisions, and understands the responsibilities that come with being the player who touches the ball more than anyone else on the court. A setter who can consistently put her hitters in good positions to score is valuable, and Collignon has shown that ability throughout her high school career.

[player_tooltip player_id='732865' first='Peyton' last='Brandt'] — Monett — Outside Hitter

Brandt could be a solid addition for a Division II or NAIA program looking for an outside hitter who can produce offensively. Earlier this season, she became the first player in Monett program history to reach 1,000 career kills, a milestone that speaks to both her consistency and her importance to the program.

She has the tools and physicality to score on the outside at the next level. Her club experience with Apex, along with the competition she has faced in the strong Heart of America (HOA) region, has helped prepare her for the demands of college volleyball. For a program looking for an experienced pin hitter who has already demonstrated an ability to carry an offensive load, Brandt is worth a closer look.

[player_tooltip player_id='771091' first='Saniyah' last='Small'] — Hickman — OH/RS

At 5-foot-9, Small might not have the height that immediately jumps off the page for a college pin hitter, but her athleticism and ability to make plays deserve attention. She has been huge for Hickman this fall, currently sitting at 372 kills for the season.

She can score from the pins and has the athletic ability to contribute at the net defensively as well. I don't know what her recruitment has looked like up to this point, but I believe she should be on the radar of college programs, particularly NAIA schools throughout the Kansas City-to-St. Louis corridor. Programs looking for an athletic pin who can contribute offensively and challenge hitters at the net should take a look.

Maddy Huffman — Carl Junction — Outside Hitter

I've seen Huffman a couple of times on the club circuit, and she's a player I believe can compete on a college roster. She's been instrumental to Carl Junction's offense this season, recording 339 kills and showing that she can take over stretches of a match.

Her ability to put up multiple 20-plus-kill performances demonstrates the offensive ceiling she brings to the court. She has good size and the potential to provide value to a program looking for an outside hitter who can compete for playing time and add depth to the roster. With her high school experience and offensive production, Huffman deserves an opportunity to show what she can do at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='829347' first='Aly' last='Falconer'] — Hannibal — Setter

Falconer has been one of the top setters in Missouri over the past few seasons, and that trend has continued during her senior campaign. She leads the 2027 class in assists with 980, averaging close to 11 assists per set.

Those numbers reflect more than simply getting the ball to a hitter. Falconer has a good feel for the game and the ability to help an offense find its rhythm. She also brings the ability to make plays at the net, giving her another way to influence a match. For a college program looking for a setter who can distribute the ball, understand the game, and contribute beyond the second contact, Falconer is worth evaluating.

[player_tooltip player_id='720350' first='Kendyl' last='Edwards'] — East Buchanan — Setter

Edwards is another setter who has rewritten the record books at her school, tallying more than 2,400 assists during her career. She has demonstrated an understanding of how to run an offense and put her hitters in positions to succeed.

Given what I've seen from her and the system she has played in, I think Edwards could flourish in a 6-2 offense with a coach who wants to keep three hitters available in the front row. She recognizes matchup advantages and isn't afraid to go back to the same hitter when that player has the advantage. That's an important quality in a setter: understanding that the objective isn't to distribute the ball evenly but to make the best decision to score the point. Edwards has shown that she understands the difference.

[player_tooltip player_id='732914' first='Erinn' last='Swofford'] — Branson — Setter

The last setter I'll highlight today is Swofford. Like Edwards, I can see her thriving in the right system with a coach who recognizes what she brings to the position. She delivers quality sets, demonstrates a strong volleyball IQ, and has the leadership qualities needed to help bring a team together.

Swofford is hovering around 10 assists per set this season, showing that she can handle the responsibilities of running an offense. A setter's impact isn't always captured by a highlight or a single statistic. Decision-making, consistency, leadership, and the ability to get the most out of the hitters around her all matter. Swofford brings those qualities to the court and deserves consideration from programs still looking to add a setter to their 2027 class.

The bottom line

The recruiting process doesn't end when the calendar turns to senior year. There are still talented players who can help college programs at various levels, and strong senior seasons can give those players another opportunity to get noticed.

Coaches looking for experienced hitters, athletic pins, and setters who understand how to run an offense should take a closer look at these names. And if you're a 2027 senior who remains uncommitted, don't assume your opportunity has passed. Reach out, share your information, and let me know why a college coach should be watching you. There's still time to find the right fit.
