<p>The pairings will be released “officially” Wednesday! Coaches are having their appeal meetings and the “Road to the Resch” is starting to come together. Before we dive into the pairings we're going to take a look at the WVCA Rankings and where these teams are at in terms of their sectional pairings. Some interesting findings. Let's take a look. </p>

<!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} -->
<p class="has-medium-font-size">Division 1</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:table -->
<figure class="wp-block-table"><table class="has-fixed-layout"><tbody><tr><td>Rank</td><td>Team</td><td>Record</td><td>Section</td></tr><tr><td>1</td><td>DSHA</td><td>38-4</td><td>7</td></tr><tr><td>2</td><td>Kimberly</td><td>33-4</td><td>3</td></tr><tr><td>3</td><td>Oconomowoc</td><td>33-7</td><td>5</td></tr><tr><td>4</td><td>Arrowhead</td><td>25-6</td><td>5</td></tr><tr><td>5</td><td>Wisconsin Lutheran</td><td>29-7</td><td>8</td></tr><tr><td>6</td><td>Neenah</td><td>23-7</td><td>3</td></tr><tr><td>7</td><td>Waunakee</td><td>30-12</td><td>4</td></tr><tr><td>8</td><td>Hudson</td><td>28-4</td><td>1</td></tr><tr><td>9</td><td>River Falls</td><td>31-7</td><td>1</td></tr><tr><td>10</td><td>Oak Creek</td><td>26-11</td><td>8</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>
<!-- /wp:table -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Section 5</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>What stands out early in these rankings would be Oconomowoc and Arrowhead being in the top four in the state and the same section. Each year it seems like we have a state level matchup way too early. However, there are some other teams in this section who have something to say before looking at this potential sectional final. Janesville Craig, Milton, and Mukwonago also have over 20 wins this season. Mukwonago already has a 3-1 win over Arrowhead and has played a rugged schedule. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Section 3</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Kimberly is new in this section after being in the Northeast section for years. They will be in the East Central section where they will most likely be rewarded the top seed. They have picked up two wins over Neenah in the past ten days at the Neenah Invite and in their FVA matchup. However, another team to keep tabs on would be Fond du Lac who beat Neenah in conference play along with Manitowoc Lincoln, Cedarburg, and Oshkosh West. Appleton East is also playing with a lot of momentum the past couple weeks as well. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Section 1</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>This section will be interesting. Hudson and River Falls have been the front runners here, but this covers a large geographical area. Chippewa Falls, Holmen, New Richmond, and Marshfield all have over 20 wins (Chippewa and Marshfield with 30 plus). We'll see how the seeding plays out. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} -->
<p class="has-medium-font-size">Division 2</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:table -->
<figure class="wp-block-table"><table class="has-fixed-layout"><tbody><tr><td>Rank</td><td>Team</td><td>Record</td><td>Section</td></tr><tr><td>1</td><td>New Berlin West</td><td>29-2</td><td>4B</td></tr><tr><td>2</td><td>Mosinee</td><td>26-4</td><td>1B</td></tr><tr><td>3</td><td>Kettle Moraine Lutheran</td><td>22-9</td><td>3B</td></tr><tr><td>4</td><td>Grafton</td><td>25-6</td><td>3B</td></tr><tr><td>5</td><td>Xavier</td><td>23-11</td><td>2B</td></tr><tr><td>6</td><td>Fox Valley Lutheran</td><td>27-4</td><td>2A</td></tr><tr><td>7</td><td>Oconto Falls</td><td>33-4</td><td>2A</td></tr><tr><td>8</td><td>Luxemburg-Casco</td><td>17-15</td><td>2A</td></tr><tr><td>9</td><td>Barron</td><td>29-4</td><td>1A</td></tr><tr><td>10</td><td>Platteville</td><td>26-3</td><td>3A</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>
<!-- /wp:table -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>When looking at sections against rankings, this is actually pretty balanced. New Berlin West is the only ranked team out of section four, but there are other teams who are going to be a threat in that section that includes Catholic Memorial who is accustomed to a rigorous schedule. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Section 1 has Mosinee and Barron on opposite ends of their sections. If they were to meet with a trip to the state tournament on the line (based on WVCA Rankings), this would be an interesting storyline. Barron is a senior led team where this group won a state title in D3 in 2024 and were state semifinalist last year. Mosinee also has a heavy senior group as well as one of the top sophomores in the state in [player_tooltip player_id='545529' first='Pacyn' last='Stoffel']. They fell just short of the state tournament in 2025, losing to Waupaca in the sectional final. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Section 2 </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>The ranked teams in section 2 always seem to find each other. Xavier recently defeated FVL in their conference match last week. FVL defeated Oconto Falls at a season opening tournament and Luxemburg-Casco at the Neenah Invite. Oconto Falls defeated Luxemburg-Casco in conference play last week as well. Don't let the 15 losses from Luxemburg-Casco fool you, they play a rugged schedule and recently lost a tight one to Oconomowoc at the Neenah tournament in three sets 15-12. Oconto Falls is 33-4 and hasn't lost a match since August 29. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Section 3B</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>This isn't just a sectional final, there are two of the top four teams who won't even make it to the sectional final. Kettle Moraine Lutheran and Grafton could be on a crash course to play each other in the sectional semifinal (if the seeding reflects the rankings). Grafton lost 3-0 to KML back on September 1. This is also the section with the top Madison teams as well as Plattleville covering quite the geographical region. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} -->
<p class="has-medium-font-size">Division 3</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:table -->
<figure class="wp-block-table"><table class="has-fixed-layout"><tbody><tr><td>Rank</td><td>Team</td><td>Record</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>1</td><td>Watertown Luther Prep</td><td>26-2</td><td>3A</td></tr><tr><td>2</td><td>Marathon</td><td>26-3</td><td>2A</td></tr><tr><td>3</td><td>Manitowoc Lutheran</td><td>23-11</td><td>3B</td></tr><tr><td>4</td><td>Stanley-Boyd</td><td>30-5</td><td>1A</td></tr><tr><td>5</td><td>St. Croix Falls</td><td>25-8</td><td>1A</td></tr><tr><td>6</td><td>Cambridge</td><td>24-3</td><td>4B</td></tr><tr><td>7</td><td>Laconia</td><td>24-2</td><td>3A</td></tr><tr><td>8</td><td>River Valley</td><td>26-5</td><td>4A</td></tr><tr><td>9</td><td>Brillion</td><td>24-5</td><td>2B</td></tr><tr><td>10</td><td>Fall Creek</td><td>32-9</td><td>1B</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>
<!-- /wp:table -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Each of the four sections are represented in the rankings, but section 3 stands out right away. If the seedings reflect the rankings and there are no upsets we would have a rematch of the state championship in the sectional round. Luther Prep has been the top ranked team all season in D3, however they lost in the state final in 2025 to Manitowoc Lutheran who are the two time defending state champions. In Section 1, Stanley-Boyd and St. Croix Falls could see each other prior to the sectional final. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} -->
<p class="has-medium-font-size">Division 4</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:table -->
<figure class="wp-block-table"><table class="has-fixed-layout"><tbody><tr><td>Rank</td><td>Team</td><td>Record</td><td>Section</td></tr><tr><td>1</td><td>McDonell Central</td><td>36-4</td><td>1A</td></tr><tr><td>2</td><td>Webster</td><td>26-3</td><td>1A</td></tr><tr><td>3</td><td>Edgar</td><td>22-7</td><td>1B</td></tr><tr><td>4</td><td>Columbus Catholic</td><td>29-8</td><td>2A</td></tr><tr><td>5</td><td>Cuba City</td><td>25-7</td><td>3A</td></tr><tr><td>6</td><td>Waterloo</td><td>24-4</td><td>3A</td></tr><tr><td>7</td><td>Mineral Point</td><td>19-5</td><td>3A</td></tr><tr><td>8</td><td>Shiocton</td><td>23-2</td><td>4A</td></tr><tr><td>9</td><td>Heritage Christian</td><td>24-9</td><td>3B</td></tr><tr><td>10</td><td>Auburndale</td><td>26-9</td><td>2B</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>
<!-- /wp:table -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>I feel like this has been typical of Division 4 where the North Central/Northwest teams beat each other out before the state tournament. McDonell Central, Webster, and Edgar, teams ranked 1-3 will see each other before the state tournament. In years past Columbus Catholic and Regis would be part of this group. In South Central and Southwest Wisconsin we have Cuba City, Waterloo, Mineral Point, and Heritage Christian bunched up. What I always find exciting about D4 is that they bring huge crowds to the state tournament. These towns always support their schools extremely well. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} -->
<p class="has-medium-font-size"> Division 5</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:table -->
<figure class="wp-block-table"><table class="has-fixed-layout"><tbody><tr><td>Rank</td><td>Team</td><td>Record</td><td>Section</td></tr><tr><td>1</td><td>Turtle Lake</td><td>21-9</td><td>1B</td></tr><tr><td>2</td><td>Florence</td><td>29-6</td><td>2A</td></tr><tr><td>3</td><td>Barneveld</td><td>21-5</td><td>4A</td></tr><tr><td>4</td><td>Highland</td><td>21-3</td><td>3B</td></tr><tr><td>5</td><td>Green Bay NEW Lutheran</td><td>24-10</td><td>2B</td></tr><tr><td>6</td><td>Shullsburg</td><td>19-4</td><td>4A</td></tr><tr><td>7</td><td>Central WI Christian</td><td>24-6</td><td>4B</td></tr><tr><td>8</td><td>Seneca</td><td>25-1</td><td>3B</td></tr><tr><td>9</td><td>Prentice</td><td>24-7</td><td>1B</td></tr><tr><td>10</td><td>Rib Lake</td><td>19-13</td><td>2B</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>
<!-- /wp:table -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Section 4 jumps out right away with three teams in the top ten in Barneveld, Shullsburg, and [program_tooltip program_id='428569' first='Central' last='Wisconsin'] Christian. Florence was a state tournament team in 2025 and returns plenty of firepower from that group. There could be a potential sectional final with NEW Lutheran (if rankings play out) where NEW Lutheran has played a rugged schedule against larger schools. Rib Lake is still hanging on at number ten where they are the returning state champions from D5. </p>
