Lee's Summit North bounced back from a five-set semifinal loss to claim third place, while Lafayette rallied from two sets down to defeat Lee's Summit West and win its fifth consecutive Class 5 championship. The title match featured a dominant start by the Titans, a determined Lancers comeback, and a deciding set that secured Lafayette's place atop the podium. One of the greatest all-around state title matches I've ever watched.

Class 5 Third-Place Match: Lee's Summit North vs. Incarnate Word Academy 25-22, 25-23, 25-21

Lee's Summit North put its semifinal heartbreak behind it and finished the season with a third-place trophy. The result adds to the Broncos' Final Four success: they've now reached the tournament twice, finishing runner-up and third.

Bailey Hensgens — Incarnate Word Academy

Hensgens closed her high school career with another strong showing, finishing with 17 kills, three errors, and a .467 hitting percentage. She also added five blocks, helping the Red Knights remain competitive at the net. It was her second straight fourth-place finish with Incarnate Word.

Audrey Schaeffer — Incarnate Word Academy

The future Wyoming libero finished her prep career with 20 digs and seven assists. Schaeffer was a steady presence in the back row throughout her time with the Red Knights, using her defense and composure to keep plays alive and help the team transition to offense.

Nylah Rinard — Lee's Summit North

Rinard added a third-place finish to her Final Four résumé after helping lead the Broncos to the runner-up spot last season. She led North with 13 kills at a .429 hitting percentage and contributed across the court with two aces, two assists, eight digs, and two blocks.

Tinsley Bahr — Lee's Summit North

Bahr made a big impact in the third-place match, finishing with 11 kills at a .360 hitting percentage and three digs. The 2030 player has already played a major role for the Broncos, and her strong performance on the Final Four stage points to more big moments ahead.

Class 5 Championship: Lafayette vs. Lee's Summit West 25-27, 15-25, 27-25, 29-27, 15-9

Lee's Summit West came out aggressively, with its block making life difficult for Lafayette's hitters. The Titans took the opening set 27–25, then surged to a 13–0 lead in the second before closing it out 25–15.

Lafayette answered with improved defense and timely attacks, edging West 27–25 in the third and 29–27 in the fourth to force a deciding set. The Lancers took control early in the fifth, with stronger play in the middle helping them complete the reverse sweep and claim their fifth consecutive Class 5 title.

Andi Gardner — Lee's Summit West

The future Mizzou player turned in a remarkable defensive performance, repeatedly keeping the ball alive with difficult digs. Gardner led all players with 43 digs and added eight assists and four aces. Her back-row work helped West build an early lead and stay in the match as Lafayette rallied.

Tori Massengill — Lee's Summit West

Massengill finished her Titan career with a double-double, recording 21 kills and 22 digs. She also added three aces and a block. She was especially effective in the first two sets, scoring from the pin and getting touches on Lafayette's attacks to slow the ball and give Gardner chances to make plays.

Hallie Ganga — Lee's Summit West

Ganga made her presence felt at the net, finishing with seven blocks and six kills. Her blocking slowed Lafayette's pin hitters, and she put together a standout rally in the second set, getting a hand on four Lancer attacks before finishing the sequence with a stuff block to close out the set.

Aubrey Toti — Lafayette

Toti was my player of the match. Even as Lafayette fell behind by two sets, the 2029 pin hitter kept attacking with confidence, finishing with a match-high 35 kills on 83 attempts, just nine errors, and a .313 hitting percentage. She also added 20 digs and five blocks. Her production on both sides of the ball was central to Lafayette's comeback.

Peyton Dolly — Lafayette

Dolly grew into the match, becoming especially important late in the fourth set and in the fifth. While helping defend against West's attack, she tied for the match lead with five blocks. Dolly also delivered two crucial fifth-set points, including a block, as Lafayette completed the reverse sweep.

Hailey Lowery and Gigi Foley — Lafayette

Lowery and Foley shared the setting duties as Lafayette worked to climb back into the match. They stayed patient, continuing to feed the Lancers' big hitters while also involving the middles. Each setter recorded 28 assists, and together they added 23 digs and three aces. Their steady distribution helped Lafayette find its rhythm and finish the comeback in the deciding set.
