Storylines To Follow Heading Into The Prep Dig Sizzle

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There is always something beyond the name on the roster.  Take a look beyond the team names and numbers, there are plenty of facts that are fun storylines heading into the Prep Dig Sizzle that will take place at the Community First Champions Center in Appleton with the JV going Wednesday and the Varsity Thursday and Friday.  Here are a few things to note before we get going into the weekend. </span></p> <p><strong>Multiple Sister Acts</strong></p> [caption id="attachment_100362" align="alignright" width="251"]<img class=" wp-image-100362" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2020/07/DSC08098-e1594059644282-225x300.jpg" alt="" width="251" height="335" /> Ella Demetrician[/caption] <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If I listed all the sister combinations I’d run out of room on this article.  There are a few to note and family connections run deep with plenty of teams.  [player_tooltip player_id="80764" first="Grace" last="Demetrician"] and Ella Demetrician will be on the same court for the first time competing for the Thunder which will be comprised of athletes from Appleton North.  Ella Demetrician will be one of the top outsides in the Class of 2024. The Wise sisters from N.E.W. Lutheran will be a top D4 duo with older sister Jaclyn committed to Hillsdale in Michigan.  McFarland had a couple of sister duos last year with Lizzy and [player_tooltip player_id="57284" first="Maddy" last="Fortune"].  [player_tooltip player_id="56078" first="Lizzy" last="Fortune"] has graduated, but Maddy will be back and is cousins to KC Fortune who preps at Appleton North where they all competed in the state tournament in 2019.  Gwen and Nina Crull will be back again as a sister duo for McFarland who has plenty of key pieces from their 2019 state runner up finish. </span></p> <p><strong>All Parts of Wisconsin Represented</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There will be teams who will get to see volleyball from all across the state (and Iowa).  From Southwest Wisconsin, Southwestern and Riverdale will be making the three hour trip to Appleton.  Westosha Central from the Southeast Corner will bring up a tradition-rich program.  River Falls is thirty minutes from the Minnesota border in Western Wisconsin, but they definitely know the way to the area having been to the state tournament the past four years.  From the North Woods, Prentice will be attending after spending most of the 2019 in the top ten of Division 4.  One of their hidden gems will be [player_tooltip player_id="80845" first="Olivia" last="Burcaw"], a Class of 2021 prospect who had nearly 500 kills in 2019. </span></p> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"> <p dir="ltr" lang="en">We are only ✌️ days away from the <a href="https://x.com/PrepDig?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@PrepDig</a> Sizzle at the <a href="https://x.com/ChampionCtr?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@ChampionCtr</a> in Appleton. <a href="https://x.com/BallerTV?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@BallerTV</a> <a href="https://x.com/ballertvvb?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@ballertvvb</a> will be streaming the Varsity event for all courts Thursday and Friday! <a href="https://t.co/luAcEhzyxN">https://t.co/luAcEhzyxN</a> <a href="https://t.co/Ln3zcIdUjk">pic.x.com/Ln3zcIdUjk</a></p> — Chris Fitzgerald (@PrepDigChris) <a href="https://x.com/PrepDigChris/status/1280178843408633857?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 6, 2020</a></blockquote> <p><script async src="https://platform.x.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p> <p><strong>A Loaded D2 Field</strong></p> [caption id="attachment_100363" align="alignright" width="440"]<img class=" wp-image-100363" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pd/uploads/2020/07/thumb_DSC00729_1024.jpg" alt="" width="440" height="293" /> Wisconsin Lutheran[/caption] <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">D2 was up for grabs all year in 2019 and Luxemburg-Casco ended up on top with the gold ball with a state title after defeating Wisconsin Lutheran and McFarland at the state tournament.  Luxemburg-Casco is in the field along with Wisconsin Lutheran and McFarland.  Fox Valley Lutheran is minutes from the Champions Center and will be bringing back a talented team who defeated L-C during the regular season.  Other teams who saw time in the rankings or made a big push were Lake Country Lutheran (ranked #1 in the final WVCA poll), Mosinee, Kettle Moraine Lutheran, and Freedom.  West Liberty out of Iowa will play as the “Liberty All Stars” where they would be the equivalent of a D2 team in Wisconsin.  They were state qualifiers in Iowa and return two All State outside hitters in Macy Daufeldt (Drake Commit) and Martha Pace (Upper Iowa commit). </span></p> <p><strong>Returning Conference Champions Attending</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Big Rivers - River Falls</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Capitol South - Waterloo</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Eastern Wisconsin - Valders</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Fox Valley Association - Appleton North </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Great Northern - Mosinee</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Midwest Classic - Lake Country Lutheran </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Northeastern - Fox Valley Lutheran </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rock Valley - McFarland</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Woodland - West - Pewaukee</span></p> <p><strong>How Can I Watch? </strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">BallerTV will be streaming all matches Thursday and Friday.
