These Illinois Freshman Showcase Players Competed and Impressed

These Freshman Showcase athletes competed and impressed out on the court. They brought athleticism, hard work, and skill and showed off their talent. Different positions and different set of skills but showed they would help any squad or team they were playing for.    This girl was super fun to watch. Athletic and can really work on the court. She is ready to go and compete. Great hands and touch delivering sets for her hitters. Easily gets to the ball as she is quick and moves her body well to get in position to make the set. Defends well at the setter position too. Seems to be a really good all around player!     Good size at the setter position, only a 2030 and is 6 ft 1. Moved pretty well on the court and had good touch getting sets spread around to hitters. Great to have the size up front for more blocking and moved well along the net defending it. Also looks like plays RS as well, I like when a setter can hit too.     I watched Hibel in some scrimmage play and I was impressed. I thought she was crafty and ran the offense well. She knew when to go for a setter dump for a point, and she knew when to set her hitters. Was able to make all the sets. Saw some nice cross court sets and she was sneaky with setter dumps for kills. Seemed to have the position down and all the tools.     Morris can play. I watched her for a bit she had good vertical, good size already for a 2030 and could hit. You can tell she has got the reps in. Good arm swing, athletic, and swings confidently. She draws that elbow back and gets on top of the ball. Watch out for Morris!     Naomi is the type of back row Libero you want anchoring your defense. She does a nice job with hard serves passing to the setter and can make plays on defense keeping the rally going. She has quick feet and is ready to compete isn't afraid to get on the floor. Nice hard serve that is hard to handle. Back row player you want on your team fighting for each and every point.     Anya was working her tail off in drills. Really good size standing at 6ft 2 or 3 and was working working! Nice job in the drills snapping her wrist on big hits and getting her hands pressed over the net. During gameplay she got a lot of touches at the net and made smart plays when she got set. If the hit wasn't there she would swipe it where defenders weren't. Also has a killer serve! Anya is and will be a force to recon with.     Inga was fun to watch. I liked what she brought to the table. Good passer watched her drop some dimes to the setter on hard serves. Also protected that back row from letting the ball drop. She read tips well and moved her feet well. I also thought she had a pretty nice reach and wingspan that helped her stretch out for passes and digs. Keep an eye on Inga!     Henders was really competing out there. Watched her make nice passes during the drills and gameplay. She can do a little bit of everything. Seems to have good hands using them in the back row or to set. Saw her playing back row at the IL Freshman Showcase but looks like she sets and can play RS too. Being able to be an all around player can help any team. Henders was adding value on the court.    So many good talented players at the Illinois Freshman Showcase. Glad I could spotlight these players as well. This 2030 Class is one to watch as so many well trained players.
