Houston Stock Up Showcase Top Performers Vol 7

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Dig Texas Showcases are back!  We had some big events that were held at the Competitive Edge Sports Complex on July 25^th.  The Houston Stock Up showcase was amazing! These events always bring together athletes from across the state looking to compete in front of college coaches while being evaluated by Prep Dig scouts and court coaches. There were tons of awesome players that we evaluated from their awesome production. Showcases like this continue to provide a valuable platform for athletes to be seen, tested, and recognized for their individual performance and intangibles. What kept it was the way she attacked with timing and intention rather than just relying on her physical advantages to do the work for her. The College Park outside hitter earned her Top Performer award by competing well in both the skill evaluation and the team scrimmage portions of the Houston Showcase and showing court coaches a hitter who understands how to use her length at the point of attack. Her serve receive was solid for her age and class year and she stayed in the game defensively without needing to be pulled off the floor. There is a lot of volleyball ahead of [player_tooltip player_id='964263' first='Brynn' last='Steen'] and the 2030 class should be paying attention. We are definitely going to be watching her progress as a six rotation attacker in this freshman class. At 5'5" she plays with an energy and urgency that makes her hard to ignore on a busy floor and she competed with full effort across every segment of the event. Her communication with the players around her was constant and her ability to stay locked in mentally through both the skill and scrimmage portions of the showcase reflected a player who takes the game seriously. She is a player worth watching as the 2029 class continues to develop. The Clear Brook defensive specialist earned her Top Performer award at the Houston Showcase by doing the things that court coaches watch most closely at the back row position: reading the serve early, keeping her platform clean under pressure and staying low and disciplined through every contact. She tracked down difficult balls and turned them into usable passes with a consistency that held up across the full day of competition. Her speed was something that stood out to everyone who was watching. She had what we call relentless pursuit of the ball and it was so refreshing to watch. There is no margin for error at 5'2" and Vo has figured out how to eliminate most of it through technique and anticipation.
