If the Minnesota Stock Up Showcase was any indication, the Class of 2030 should be a fun group to follow. This freshman class is already bringing depth to the back row with defenders that provided their teams with quality first contact, trusted their platform, and competed in every rally. It was an early chance for many of these athletes to show what they could do, and they made the most of it.

Here are some of the players who caught my eye. They embraced the challenges of the back row and showed that the next generation of Minnesota defenders is already making a big difference.

[player_tooltip player_id='886776' first='Audrey' last='Yang'] played with instincts that are particularly difficult to teach. She read hitters early, beat attacks to the spot, and consistently turned hard-driven balls into quality first contact. Her platform stayed quiet under pressure, and she showed the confidence to take ownership of serve and receive. Defenders who can slow the game down the way Yang did don't come around often. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='522688' first='Sophia' last='Peterson'] covered the back row with confidence from the first whistle. She took away angles, absorbed pace, and kept rallies alive with controlled defensive touches instead of simply throwing the ball back over. Her range and willingness to own big serve-receive reps made her one of the more complete defenders in the gym. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='784850' first='Aubrey' last='Tysver'] seemed to have no problems in the first exchange. She always made clean passes, handled tough serves, and didn't miss a beat in her rhythm, giving her setter plenty of chances to run the offense. Her discipline on the platform and ability to hold her balance on contact were particularly impressive, especially for a player at this stage in her career. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='965635' first='Reese' last='Youngblom'] covered an impressive amount of court and refused to let rallies end easily. She closed on tips, handled hard-driven attacks, and had a knack for extending plays that looked over. Her anticipation separated her throughout the day because she wasn't reacting late. She was already in position before the swing was finished. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

[player_tooltip player_id='965415' first='Eleanor' last='Whinnery'] was consistently effective, as all coaches like to see. She always gave her team a good first contact, was disciplined behind the block, and was very confident in serve receive. The most notable aspect was her ability to remain composed under pressure. Poise is a quality essential to building a winning back row, and the game never seemed to faze her. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas
